Loading different keyboards

By default, OKGO ships with a selection of example keyboards. Some of these are specific to particular games, while others are generic interfaces that can be used across many games. It may often be helpful to use the generic keyboards to test out how useable a game is, and then decide which keys you need and design your own keyboard for a specific game.

But default OK, Game On will load this folder of bundled keyboards, but you can also or load a particular file directly.

OKGO settings

Right click on the OKGO interface and select "Settings". In the "Visuals" view, you have an option to change the startup keyboard. If you'd like to edit or copy the built-in keyboards, make a copy of them here and use this as your default location.

Launching files directly

OK Game On can launch keyboards directly:

  • A single XML file - right click on the file in Windows Explorer and select "Open with OKGameOn..."
  • A folder containing multiple XML files - right click on the folder in Windows Explorer and select "Open with OKGameOn...". This will open a menu listing the files that can be opened
  • A single .okgo file - double click the file to launch automatically

To make your own .okgo file for a single interface, you just need to select one or more XML keyboard files in Windows Explorer and right click -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder. Rename the file from .ZIP to .okgo. If you cannot see the .ZIP extension you may need to enable File name extensions in the View menu of Windows Explorer.
