Moana is an American movie that was released on November 23, 2016, to theaters in the United States. It was made by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 55th movie made by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It cost $150 million to make the movie, and it made about $642 million in the box office.

The story takes place in Polynesia. It was about a young girl named Moana, who is the chief's daughter and believes in the ocean. When there's an evil volcano goddess that was about to something destructive, it's up to Moana to save the people of her island from a blight, accompanied by a strongman named Maui and Moana's pet rooster Heihei.

Along with Zootopia, it was 1 of the first CGI Disney movies released in the same year as each other.

Sequel and live action adaptation

Moana will be Disney's third CGI movie to inspire a sequel. The sequel titled Moana 2 will be released in 2024.

In 2023, it was announced that a live action film is in development. It was originally scheduled to be released on 27 June 2025, but was postponed to 10 July 2026, due to the release of the second film.
