EUR-Lex developments: November 2024

This page summarises the main new features on EUR-Lex.

    Email notification system

    Registered users can now receive email notifications each time a document or procedure is updated.

    From any document or procedure, click on 'Create an email alert' in the left menu and follow the instructions.

    You can name your alert and choose which modifications you wish to be informed about.

    Each time there is a new document published on EUR-Lex that matches the alert you have set, you will receive an email with a link to it.

    You can access and edit your saved email alerts from the drop-down user menu at the top right of any page.

    Table of contents and multilingual display for documents based on the European Legislation Identifier

    The European Legislation Identifier (ELI) is a system to make legislation available online in a standardised format, so that it can be accessed, exchanged and reused across borders.

    We have used metadata from ELI to improve two features in EUR-Lex: the table of contents of a document and the multilingual display.

    For ELI-based documents, the table of contents:

    • shows the text of the titles, sections, chapters and article;
    • ensures that all the elements (titles, chapters and sections) are presented in the correct hierarchy;
    • provides links to the preamble, citations and recitals;
    • displays the concluding formulas and the annexes.

    Thanks to a better alignment of the paragraphs in the texts, the multilingual display makes it much easier to compare different language versions of documents based on ELI.

    Accessibility

    We have made it easier for users of assistive technologies to navigate the search links on the 'Browse by EuroVoc' page and the tables on the statistics pages.
