Gallery of Horyuji Treasures

  • This gallery exhibits treasures offered to Horyuji temple.
  • There is a shallow pool in front of the building. You may go through a pass of 2 meter wide to the entrance. Please be aware some areas between the pass and pool are without fence.
  • Steps are in front of the entrance. There is a slope for wheelchairs on the right side of the building.
  • There is a wall in front after your entrance to the building. You may go into the building through automatic doors on your left or right.
  • Your entrance with guide dogs is permitted.

 

1st Floor

  • There is an information desk in front from the entrance.
  • AED is located next to the information desk.
  • There are coin-operated  lockers and umbrella stands further right to the information desk.
  • Wheelchairs and walking sticks are available here.
  • After your entrance you may walk s few meters to the left to go into the exhibition room.
  • There is an elevator on the right side from the entrance of the exhibition room. This elevator is available for wheelchairs.
  • The left to the end from the entrance is a restaurant.
  • Restrooms for men and women are located one each and both are with diaper changing places.
  • There is a restroom for disabled visitors.
  • Exhibit rooms could be dark at some gallery spaces.
  • The 1st floor has three exhibit rooms. The 1st room has kanjo-ban, banner for the Kanjo-ceremony, the 2nd room gilt bronze statues of Buddhist, and the 3rd room exhibits gigaku-masks.

Mezzanine Floor

  • Please use the elevators or stairs next to the restaurant to go up to the mezzanine floor.
  • There are "The Digital Gallery of Hōryūji Treasures" on this floor. In The Digital Gallery of Hōryūji Treasures, visitors can examine and interact with digital reproductions of historic objects from the temple that cannot be kept on permanent exhibit.
  • This is a large open space with natural light coming through glass walls.

2nd Floor

  • There is no restroom on the 2nd floor.
  • There are three exhibit rooms on this floor. The 4th room has wooden or lacquer works, the 5th room metal works and the 6th exhibits paintings calligraphies and textiles.
