From this high point on the A701, to reach Hart Fell (808m, NT1113) is an exhilarating 7km (4.5 miles) walk. At least, it would be in better conditions than prevailed today!

Postal Memorial near Moffat
This monument is to the memory of two stagecoach men, a coachman & guard, who died in a blizzard in February 1831, struggling to get the mail bags north to Tweedshaws after the mailcoach became stuck in the snowdrifts.

Felled area, Flecket Hill
