Parliament to review October European Council
On Wednesday morning, MEPs will assess the outcome of the October European Council meeting with Presidents Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa.
During their meeting in Brussels on 15-16 October, heads of state or government will be discussing the Irish Council Presidency’s proposal for the EU’s 2028-2034 multiannual financial framework (MFF), how to strengthen Europe’s economic competitiveness, continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s war of aggression, and the situation in the Middle East. EU leaders will also focus on European defence and security, ways to manage migration flows and ensure border protection, and EU enlargement.
During the plenary session on 6 October, MEPs debated their expectations for the summit with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Thomas Byrne for the Irish Council Presidency.
