Having come through Middlesbrough's academy, he has played in all three divisions of the EFL, in spells at Hartlepool United and Barnsley, and played 14 times in the Scottish Premiership with Hibs.
Bromley have not confirmed the length of Jackson's contract.

Bromley boss Andy Woodman said their 2-2 draw at Blackpool on Saturday, which had followed three consecutive defeats, proves they can compete in League One.
The Ravens, who are new to the third tier this season after two promotions in three years, had been beaten 7-2 at Sheffield Wednesday, 5-0 at home by Leyton Orient and 2-0 by AFC Wimbledon.
"It gives us a little bit of confidence that we're not out of our depth," Woodman told BBC Radio London.
"We looked very disciplined in our shape and set-up and we looked a little bit more like a Bromley team in my eyes. [There was] a bit more bite about us.
"Everyone has their opinion when you lose. But we've got to block out the noise.
"It's a new league for us. We're a new group of players. And as I said to one of their supporters who was heckling me, we were in non-League two years ago, so I don't think we've done too bad."

Bromley manager Andy Woodman says his team need to adopt the "dark arts" to compete in League One.
The Ravens started life in the third tier well following promotion, with a 1-0 win at Barnsley and a 1-1 draw with Cambridge United.
Since then, however, they have been beaten 7-2 at Sheffield Wednesday, had their 27-match unbeaten home league run ended emphatically with a 5-0 defeat by Leyton Orient, and lost 2-0 against AFC Wimbledon on Monday.
"We've got to make sure that we turn the corner a little bit and stop making these errors, because we will get punished for them all the time," Woodman told BBC Radio London.
"I see endeavour [and] a will to win. I see them trying. I can't fault them for any of that.
"But the opposition are just a little bit smarter, a little bit more streetwise [and] they're a little bit more clever in certain situations.
"We need to get all those dark arts in our game, along with being a bit stronger as well.
"This league isn't going to be easy. What you can't do is start feeling sorry for yourself. The way to correct it is to get back on the training pitch."

Manager Andy Woodman says his new signings have to get "into the Bromley way" quickly and has accused his squad of showing a "soft underbelly".
His comments came after the Ravens' 27-game unbeaten home league record was emphatically ended by a 5-0 loss against Leyton Orient on Tuesday.
They had also been beaten 7-2 at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, making it 13 goals conceded in four matches since promotion to League One.
It has been a harsh reality check for a Ravens side that took four points from their first two games, including an impressive opening-day win at Barnsley.
"It's all very well taking the plaudits when it goes well - you can't hide away when it doesn't go well," Woodman told BBC Radio London.
"We've got to grow up a little bit quicker than we are at the moment and make sure we become a little bit tougher and a little bit more aggressive in everything we do.
"I don't like the way we're conceding. This football club's been built on clean sheets, desire and commitment. It certainly hasn't been built on a soft underbelly, and at the moment we're just seeing a little bit of a soft underbelly, which I don't like.
"There's a lot of new players in the building. They've got to start getting into the Bromley way pretty quickly."
