Love HelloFresh, but Please Rethink the Auto-Ordering Feature
I’ve been using HelloFresh for quite some time and overall I think it’s a fantastic service. The recipes are always easy to follow and turn out very well. One thing I especially appreciate is the step-by-step instructions – they are so clear that even my children can cook independently and learn valuable cooking skills at the same time.
The meals consistently taste great, and the portion sizes are more than sufficient for our family. The variety of recipes is also a big plus.
However, there is one issue that really frustrates me and has even made me consider cancelling my subscription: the automatic ordering system in the app. Future delivery weeks are automatically activated, and I have to remember to manually skip them if I don’t want a box. Unfortunately, this has already led to situations where I received meals that I didn’t need, and sometimes even meals that I would never have chosen myself.
For example, I occasionally received dishes containing pork, which I do not eat. I would strongly prefer the system to work the other way around: delivery weeks should be disabled by default, and customers should actively choose to place an order.
I would also love to see more personalization options, such as the ability to permanently exclude certain ingredients or types of meat (e.g., pork) from recipe suggestions and automatic selections.
Overall, I am very happy with the quality of the recipes and the service, but improving these subscription and personalization features would significantly enhance the customer experience.
