Integration of Cinii Books into CiNii Research
To improve the sophistication of CiNii Research and streamline its operations, we have decided to integrate the functions of CiNii Books into CiNii Research.
The data in CiNii Books have already been integrated into CiNii Research and are searchable.
Timing of the integration
Release of CiNii Books integration features: Around December 2025 - March 2026
*The release of some features, such as display of available library information on the book details screen, is scheduled for around December 2025 to January 2026.
*Other features related to the CiNii Books integration will be released sequentially until the integration is complete around March 2026.
About the period of parallel operation
CiNii Books parallel operation period: Around March 2026 to around March 2027
CiNii Books is scheduled to continue its service in parallel with CiNii Research for a certain period after the start of functional integration with CiNii Research.
The parallel operation period will be one year for CiNii Books.
Access to Cinii Books after the integration
After the parallel operation ends, CiNii Books are fully integrated into CiNii Research, and access to CiNii Books will be redirected to the corresponding CiNii Research page or top page.Changes to the search function
Note that the search function of CiNii Research after the integration may be different from that of now provided by CiNii Books due to changes in screen design, etc.Details for changes in functionality with the integration, integration schedule, and other information will be announced on the following pages.

| Book & Journal Search By Keywords | Added a function to specify a NACSIS-CAT library ID (FAID) and narrow down the search to only items held by that library. |
| Author Search By Keywords | The CiNii Books author search function will be temporarily discontinued. We will consider using NACSIS-CAT author name authority data for the search function for people items that are planned to be published on CiNii Research in the future. |
| Content Search By Keywords | The content search function will be discontinued due to the expiration of the contract with the target database. Other information that was included in the content search will be available through CiNii Research's free word search. |
| Book & Journal Search Results | The icon for the holding libraries will now be displayed on the search results screen in addition to the previous details screen. |
| Added a function to move the icon displaying the number of libraries to the library tab screen. | |
| Book & Journal Details Page | Added tabs for displaying bibliographic information and holdings information to book and magazine items in NACSIS-CAT sources. |
| Clicking on the library name in the holdings information will provide library information in a modal display. | |
| Link information for electronic resources and e-book information on CiNii Books will now display the type and number of items as icons, and a grouping function will be added that displays details in a modal window when clicked. | |
