Abstract
This investigation is undertaken within the framework of the esoteric astrology presented through Alice A. Bailey and the Tibetan teacher Djwhal Khul, whose writings provide the primary conceptual foundation for the questions explored here.
Modern esoteric astrology represents a progressive unfolding: Alan Leo was a principal initiator of the movement from predictive astrology toward the study of character and evolutionary development; Dane Rudhyar developed the birth chart as an archetypal pattern of becoming; and Bailey/DK extended the field into a presentation of astrology as a science of soul purpose, rays, initiation, and planetary relationships. Within this context, esoteric rectification becomes the search for the true symbolic signature of incarnation.
The history of modern astrology can be viewed as a gradual movement from the interpretation of celestial influence as external fate toward an understanding of astrology as a symbolic language of consciousness, evolution, and purpose. This transition did not occur through a single revelation, but through a succession of individuals who prepared different aspects of the field.
