Transforming Lives

Every day, people in our community face overwhelming behavioral health challenges. Someone you know is likely struggling right now.

One in five adults and adolescents in the U.S. experiences a mental health disorder each year. Yet, many of them don’t have access to the help they need.

You can support innovative local programs that will bring hope and healing to those in crisis.

Customized Care Through Innovative Options

Because of donor support, Providence Everett is leading the way with an innovative approach to behavioral healthcare that offers multiple options customized to a patient’s needs, both clinically and in balance with their lives.

Your philanthropic support can provide immediate relief for someone in crisis, support a patient’s journey toward recovery, and offer compassionate care when and where it’s needed most.

Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs

With tremendous donor support, Providence Everett opened a new Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient Program in 2025. The PHP/IOP provide short-term, intensive day treatment for adults with psychiatric needs. They offer a step-down option for patients who need support when leaving the hospital, or a step-up for those who need intensive treatment but not hospitalization. Patients can get intensive behavioral health treatment while still living at home and maintaining normalcy in their lives. This means patients are more likely to seek this customized care.

Behavioral Health Urgent Care

Providence opened the Behavioral Health Urgent Care in late 2019 to provide immediate care to those in behavioral health crisis. Located near Providence Everett’s emergency department, the BHUC alleviates the burden on our ED teams, who had been overwhelmed by the number of patients presenting with behavioral healthcare needs and may not have had the specialized training needed to provide appropriate care. The BHUC serves people age 16 and up, and it was the first of its kind on the West Coast. It is now a model for others wanting to offer this service.

Substance Use Treatment and Recovery

From alcohol to opioids, substance abuse disorders can destroy lives and livelihoods. Providence Everett offers medically assisted inpatient and outpatient treatment options for those trying to escape the grip of addiction. Because of limitations on clinical space and provider availability, these services are not keeping up with the growing demand. With your help, we can treat more patients as they work to reclaim their lives.

Inpatient Psychiatric Care

Opened in 2021 due to overwhelming community need, the 24-bed inpatient psychiatric unit is consistently full, reflecting the continuing need in our community. The unit provides acute psychiatric treatment for adults and is staffed with a multidisciplinary team of skilled behavioral healthcare professionals who care for patients in a calming, therapeutic environment. The space includes a secure, outdoor, rooftop patio made possible through philanthropy.

Behavioral Health in Primary Care

Providence, in partnership with Providence Medical Group, integrates behavioral healthcare into primary care—for both adult and pediatric patients. This makes it easier for patients to access care in a stigma-free environment and provides them with help right away, rather than being referred to an outside specialist.

Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse

It’s a little-known fact that each year, about 1,000 children and adults in our community seek medical and mental health services following assault and abuse.

PICAA provides a team of experts—forensic nurses, advocates, nurse practitioners, therapists and social workers—who conduct medical exams, collect evidence and provide professional advocacy for those impacted by sexual or physical violence.

“They helped me understand what’s going on with my brain and introduced me to new treatments I didn’t know were available. The team really cares and wants you to get better.”  – Grateful PHP patient

You can provide hope and healing to those facing behavioral health challenges. Your generous support can offer the compassion and resources they need to reclaim their lives. Will you help advance exceptional care to ease every health journey? We welcome and appreciate your support.
