Nationality
[edit]I think it should be mentioned that General Maxwell was Scottish. People often mistakenly describe him as an English officer, but he was actually born in Scotland. (92.7.25.121 (talk) 10:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC))

That the leaders of the Easter Rising were to be executed had already been agreed before Maxwell left London. The real controversy regarding the aftermath of the Easter Rising was not so much the executions themselves but the way the trials were conducted in secrecy and the speed of events.
