Hi I have a new phone, I tried online backup/restore failed.
Tried local backup and move files to new pheon restore, and it fails (I have the key and its correct).
I tried the transfer/register new device, from the old phone and it sits scanning for new device on a black screen with a circle rotating, finds nothing.
Tried transfer/register new device from new phone and teh QR code scan, and it just fails.
Both devices next to one another, both upto date, both have internet access, both are unlocked.
I have a backup in the format SignalBackup then 2 folders one called Files (has hundreds of 2 digit folders inside, with thousands of files in total), one called signal-backup-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm (this has 3 files in it only).
Copied this over to new phone and it will not open the backup. gives error.
Im stuck, I can still see old messages i want in old phone but a message its de registered now. New phone I cleared data and tried transfer again, still no joy.
Where do I start, and why wont the backup open correctly?
I also have signal desktop on win 11, and backed up form there and tried a restore but no joy, WTF why is this so hard?
