double categories
[edit]Thank you for contributing to the maintenance by adding categories. When you add category:Bantry you may remove Category:County Cork since the first is a subcategory of the latter, that way we avoid double-categorisation. Cheers, Finn Rindahl 16:26, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Good point. <font color="Blue">Peter</font><font color="Green">Clarke</font> 16:44, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think you ought to do something about that signature of yours... . That aside, why is Image:Yole de Bantry.JPG included in the category - the name suggests that this special type of boat is connected to Bantry, maybe that could be included in the image description? Keep up the good work! Cheers, Finn Rindahl 17:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments. As to that pic, I thought it might have been a boat in the Bantry regatta... If it isn't then what does Yole de Bantry mean in English? p.s. I fixed my sig - I forgot to click the box "Raw" in my preferences, so here is the proper version: PeterClarke 09:27, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Image Irish Free State Passport
[edit]Hi Peter. Could you include date and place of issue for your wonderful IFS passport image. Many thanks. 83.71.61.221 23:05, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. The passport was issued in 1927. I will have more passport images soon. PeterClarke 13:26, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:23, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Largo di Torre Argentina photo
[edit]Hi, thanks for adding a photo of largo di Torre Argentina (File:Largo_di_Torre_Argentina_-_wide_view.jpg). Sorry for the criticism, but you might want to have a second look at it, and perhaps re-stitch it. In fact, there is something the matter with the union of the two images: the entrance to the same street can be seen twice (just left of the - repeated - newspaper kiosk), the shop with the "SERMONETA" sign appears twice and so on.
Bye, Daniele (Goochelaar (talk) 21:52, 2 February 2010 (UTC))
- Hi Daniele,I see what you mean! On closer inspection it has been "stitched" incorrectly. I'll have another attempt. PeterClarke 15:04, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Peter, is this sculpture permanently installed at that location or only during an exhibition? --Túrelio (talk) 12:20, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- As far as I know this was for an exhibition PeterClarke 21:23, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I fear, then we have to delete it, as it is still copyrighted (living artist) and temporarily installed works are not covered by the freedom-of-panorama exemption from copyright. --Túrelio (talk) 21:26, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

The image shows a date of 31 March 2013, 17:59:02, the date of Bob Clarke's death, which seems extremely unlikely, considering he didn't die suddenly in an accident. Can you supply the actual date the photo was taken, at least the year? The date field should show the original creation date of the image, not the date it was uploaded. — Quicksilver@ 15:31, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have permission from a family member to use the photo. I don't know the date it was taken. PeterClarke 09:47, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
A Wikimeet is proposed for Northern Ireland in the next few months. If you have never been to one, this is an opportunity to meet other Wikipedians in an informal atmosphere for Wiki and non-Wiki related chat and for beer or food if you like. Most take place on a Sunday afternoon in a suitable pub but other days and locations can also work. Experienced and new contributors are all welcome. This event is definitely not restricted just to discussion of Northern Ireland topics. Please add your suggestions for place and date to the discussion page here: Proposed Northern Ireland Wiki Meetup. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:16, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect caption on photo ..
[edit]There is a photo posted by yourself which is incorrectly captioned. It is a photo of a 1920s tourer, with a Cork registration visible IF 644.
The photo is captioned as a Ford Model A ( “Model A Ford 1929 or 1930 4 door Phaeton.jpg” ).
It appears on two Wiki pages- “Vehicle Registration plates in Ireland”, and “Automotive Industry in Ireland”.
The car is certainly not a Model A, or indeed, any Ford.
It is most likely to be a Citroën Type B12, from c. 1926 ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroën_Type_B12)
Definitely not a Ford, though. Otherwise, appreciate your helping out with the Wikis. Thanks, Peter. Wikithane (talk) 22:23, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
