They are highly manipulative, It was a very dishearten situation for me. But unfortunately fo them Proxen-Binders ensured every dime was collected back.
Similar to the other experiences folks have outlined on here, my experience with Compass Mining has been incredibly poor. I purchased 3 miners at the beginning of the year, and while they were quick to get them in service, one of the miners consistently showed as offline. As others have mentioned, their dashboard would show a miner online, but the actual pool would show the miner as not performing. Support will not proactively do anything about their honored SLAs and you have to monitor yourself if you want any reimbursement (I have yet to get an answer from their team on my miners' performance relative to their SLAs).
Only 6 months in I've had over 5 repairs across the 3 miners (~$199/each) with the one troublesome miner being declared unsalvageable and a complete loss to me. Compass Mining has given me a temporary miner while they figure out what to do about the miner being dead so soon after purchase - that was 2 months ago with no follow up from support since.
Overall they draw you in with the hopes of simple mining, but it really ends up being a time suck. Unless you have the time to babysit support tickets and verify monitoring to ensure your miners are ACTUALLY running, it ends up being more of a headache than it's worth.
If you're serious about exploring hosted crypto mining services, I'd recommend you continue to research other marketplaces or work directly with a vendor (since Compass is just a marketplace between you and the actual facility running your miners).
Thomas does a great job of helping you set up your fleet and keeping you aware of any specials that are being offered. Very quick set up and my fleet is running well.

Compass reached out to me about an older miner that was being relocated to see if I wanted to upgrade it vs having it offline and moved. After Tatum gave me the credit amount for the old miner it made upgrading to a new more efficient model an absolute no brainer! I am up and runing on the new miner in less than 24 hours. Great job Team Compass and thank you!

Big thank you to Thomas for helping me upgrade several of my rigs!! Process was super easy and its a fantastic service that Compass offers. I highly recommend using them as your hosting service. I've been with them for several months and have not been disappointed!! Have been a customer for about 5 years. They offer a fair price for hardware, very reasonable hosting fees, and excellent and responsive customer service. Power outages and repairs are just a part of this business, but compass is prompt to respond and fairly compensates you for downtime. Their interface is easy to use and they have real U.S. based humans providing assistance. Most recently, I updated one of my older rigs. Their sales staff was extremely helpful, got me a great price on a new rig that took advantage of a sales tax shelter for data centers, a fair credit for my retiring rig, and a good deal on hosting, and the new rig was up and hashing in about 1 day.

Compass Mining did a good job at the miner upgrade service. Tatum was my assigned tech to offer to buyback my old miners and credit me toward new gen miners. Process was painless once the ball got rolling. I gave 4 stars because I had to ping Tatum and his team multiple times to start the miner upgrade process after they initiated the options. So what could have taken a week took about 3 weeks. All is good tho, new miners are hashing and received my miner deposits back as compass credits that I can use toward new miners or pay my electric bills!

Great experience so far! Thomas Murphy has been an excellent account manager and has been integral to me starting my mining business. The onboarding process was smooth and efficient and the Technical Support has been super responsive. The billing has been accurate and the general customer care extremely professional. Very pleased with my experience so far and looking forward to building out my fleet with Compass.

I had a very good experience with Compass Mining over the past four years since I acquired my miner through them. Their support team was always responsive, professional, and fast in solving any issues that came up.
Due to a personal decision, I decided to cease my contract, but my overall experience with the company was very positive. I appreciate the support and service I received during this time.

I purchased 3 miners back in 2021 and it took one year before they started to go online. Once they were online, failures started to occur within 2 months. I then experienced down facilities causing my miners to be offline for months - not making any money. I missed the window of the best time for BTC hashing. I then experienced multiple hashboard repairs, power supply issues, etc. with my 3 miners. This past year the miners have been up and down- never experienced a single month when all three miners hashing at the peak or close to their peak. Now, one of my miners is offline for another facility move. The other miner in Texas now has a hashboard issue - $310 for repair after this miner experienced the facility going up and down with power - not good for a machine. I think Compass should acknowledge all the issues I've encountered and at least cover the hashboard repair on their end and try and show their willingness to help offset all the downtime I experienced with my three miners.
Thanks,
Walter/Fred

DO NOT MINE WITH COMPASS!! I have been a customer for several years now. They were good when I started working with them, got great for a second last year with some overhauls to their support and website and are now trying to rip me off more than any crypto company since FTX. They literally built a dashboard on my Compass account that has no correlation to my actual mining account. They have been using their BS data to try to rip me off. My miners have experienced SIGNIFICANT DOWNTIME this year and when I contact support they make BS claims about what their dashboard shows compared to what the hard data from my pool shows. It's extremely frustrating and takes away any benefit from mining vs. just buying BTC. My guess is their ship is sinking and they are trying to take as many people down with it as they can. STAY AWAY!

Miners hashing within hours. Salesperson Colby Noe is the man. Also great pricing/ financing to further optimize cashflow. Couldn't be happier in the first few days here. Proud to be hashing in the state of Indiana.

Great experience with my first time in mining even though I have been in the space since 2019. Colby Noe was awesome to work with. Looking forward to deploy more Miners in years to come.

I’ve been mining with Compass Mining for over 4 years. The first year was solid, with very few issues. In the second year, problems started—miners would go down for long periods with no resolution, and downtime was not always credited properly. That period was rough.
To their credit, Compass later improved. They introduced a more proactive ticketing system and clearer downtime tracking, and for a while this actually worked well.
Unfortunately, the last year has been the worst. While ticketing is now automated, there is often no actual human response for weeks at a time, and there is no way to escalate a ticket. This means a miner can sit offline for months with no meaningful update or accountability.
When a miner breaks, the system asks you to choose options like repair, retire, or ship back. But after selecting an option, you just receive the same automated ticket and email repeatedly—sometimes 5–6 times—until a person finally looks at it.
Compass clearly needs more human support staff and a real escalation path. Without that, customers risk having expensive equipment offline for months with no resolution in sight.

Support is timely, I've had a wonderful experience so far. Not bad considering all the supply issues and the economy overall. Good job guys.

Have purchased miners and mined with compass.
Over payed for the miners massively, you could argue my own fault. I have overpayed for BTC 80% of the time. Watch out for the little known rule that your miners can be offline for periods without compensation.
Also the alerts from the mining pool of your miners being offline do not correspond with the audit of compass's credits for loss of mining time.
When you complain you are referred to the company’s rules &policies, so read them well. Or better still, don’t and steer clear of Compass.
Buy BTC or mine it. But don’t mine it through Compass, you’ll be better off paying spot for BTC with the money you pay to them. I would have been.

Great company - solid miners. Very helpful in setting up the mining pool configuration and very responsive as needed.

I’m currently hosting multiple ASICs with Compass Mining and have faced nothing but frustration and financial loss due to poor support, lack of transparency, and unacceptably long repair delays.
Three of my miners have been offline for weeks — some for over 2 months — and despite multiple tickets, follow-ups, and promised timelines, no clear solutions or timelines have been provided. Here’s what I’m experiencing:
• ASIC “HMVT” offline since August 12 (s21 xp 270ths)
• ASIC “HUWM” offline since August 29 (s21 pro 230ths)
• ASIC “HMVV” submitted for repair on October 20 — still no update (s21 xp 270ths)
Even after raising several support tickets and contacting Customer Success agents directly, I’ve received nothing but vague responses, repeated apologies, and no real action. One unit failed less than 7 days after activation — and no replacement or refund was provided.
The downtime credit system is obscure and not clearly explained. Credits don’t seem to reflect the actual offline duration, and getting any update about them requires multiple reminders.
To make matters worse, my miners often experience daily interruptions, frequent offline periods, or underhashing — and again, no accountability from the hosting side.
If you’re considering hosting with Compass Mining, think twice. The lack of urgency, poor customer service, and unreliable hosting infrastructure make this a high-risk, low-reward operation. Until Compass proves it can take responsibility for equipment uptime and customer communication, I strongly recommend staying away.
I will continue to update this review monthly to reflect whether things improve — but for now, I cannot recommend Compass Mining to anyone serious about their mining operation.
I have been mining with compass for about 4 years now. Colby Noe has been a great help getting me setup and hashing thought the years. I have gotten better deals with Compass compared to other big hosting companies. For us small fish, they offer in house financing with 50% down which helped me scale quickly! I will be at 750Th/s in a week or 2 ! 💪
