表演藝術系是全台灣第一個創立此相關領域的系所，自2007年創系至今，我們已經走完了第一個十年。師生為了十周年慶，舉辦了一系列的年慶活動，並且重整系上空間以及出版系專刊。特別是年度春季製作《蛙》，由前系主任杜思慧帶領十幾位老師共同製作。我們以古希臘喜劇藉古喻今，向戲劇之神致敬。同時以此劇代表藝術的發展、傳承，擷取前人的經驗，讓我們有更多的智慧，走入下一個精彩的十年！
前十年，我們對內訂定明確教學目標、辦學特色、課程架構等；對外我們建立產官學合作關係，積極開拓中南部藝術市場，以及推動國際見學交流機會。表演藝術系師生的足跡，遍及英國、德國、法國、義大利、蘇格蘭、捷克、土耳其、荷蘭、美國、澳洲、日本、韓國、泰國、大陸等。我們積極培育菁英人才，也致力於創造更豐富的表演藝術教育與環境。
藝術源於生活，不論是對生命的覺知、對人事的珍惜感恩、對未來的探索求知，都可強化自己的生命經驗及文化底蘊。我們期許學生除了精進技能、充實專業知識以外，更能發揮良善的心去關懷弱勢與社會，劇場與藝術反應當代社會文化，透過學習與實踐，用實際行動來改善大環境。也慶幸在台灣的北中南或紐約、馬來西亞、上海、廣州、香港等，都可以看見，歷屆表演藝術系畢業生們投入職場的優異表現。

The Shu-Te University Department of Performing Arts was established in 2006 and began enrolling students in 2007. It is the first department of performing arts in Taiwan to integrate music, dance, drama, and production. Throughout the past 12 years, our curriculum and industry-academic collaboration has led us to enroll students from foreign Chinese speaking countries such as Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Macao. Our international exchanges have also let our faculty and students to further experience the performing arts and actively explore the art markets in such countries as UK, Germany, France, Italy, Scotland, Czech Republic, Turkey, the Netherlands, the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and mainland China. And many of our graduates have so far started international careers in the performing arts in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and New York. We actively cultivate elite talents and are committed to creating a richer performing arts education and environment.
Art originates from life, whether it is awareness of life, gratitude for life, or exploration of the past and future. Art strengthens our life experiences and cultural heritage in addition to just improving our skills and enriching our professional knowledge. Art reflects contemporary social culture, through learning and practice, using practical actions to improve our everyday lives.
