Tulisa Contostavlos has won her legal battle against Will.i.am and Britney Spears over the 2012 song ‘Scream and Shout’.
Contostavlos claimed she co-wrote the song and was planning to include it on her album The Female Boss, under the name ‘I Don’t Give A Fuck’.
However, Will.i.am’s producers reportedly didn’t like the original version and the Black Eyed Peas singer later released it as a collaboration with Britney Spears.
Contostavlos sued Will.i.am after the song was released and the rapper admitted at the time that ‘Tulisa wrote to that song before I did – this is the truth. But the producers of the beat … didn’t want her to have it.’
Speaking to Metro, a source said: “Tulisa was annoyed when the song was taken from her and given to Britney – especially as she co-wrote it. It was set to be one of the big songs on her debut album. She didn’t let it lie, and took it all the way to the courts and has now won.
“She just wanted to be recognised as the writer of one of the biggest pop tracks of the last decade.”

The court case also revealed that Contostavlos’ vocals were still on the song alongside Britney Spears’ in the finally-released track.
After winning the case, Contostavlos will be officially credited as a writer. All money made from the track was frozen when the lawsuit was launched in 2012 and now, Contostavlos will also gain 10% of the world wide publishing rights and income for the record.
Meanwhile, Will.i.am has told fans to expect more new music from Black Eyed Peas – but added that they’ll be focussing more on virtual reality, rather than releasing albums.
