Building peace in the minds of women and men
About us
UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on 16 November 1945. For this specialized United Nations agency, it is not enough to build classrooms in devastated countries or to publish scientific breakthroughs. Education, Social and Natural Science, Culture and Communication are the means to a far more ambitious goal : to build peace in the minds of women and men.

🦋 Every year, millions of monarch butterflies travel thousands of kilometres to reach UNESCO’s Monarch Butterfly #BiosphereReserve in Mexico. This sanctuary doesn’t survive on its own. It is protected year-round by local communities who sustain their livelihoods through traditional crafts, beekeeping, and responsible tourism. UNESCO and Dior joined forces to support them, because when communities thrive, nature does too.
