But where is the man Brazilian police believe to be at the centre of it all? As the Rich Harvest yacht set off from Brazil to Europe, the sailors on board thought their transatlantic crossing would be the trip of a lifetime. When they stopped for repairs on the African tropical islands of Cape Verde, the lives of the Brazilian crew would be changed forever. Previous seasons of World of Secrets: Season 4: Al Fayed, Predator at Harrods. Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed – then owner of Harrods, one of the most famous shops in the world – is accused of rape and attempted rape by women who worked for him. Now they refuse to be silenced any longer. Season 3: The Apartheid Killer. All the victims were black and the youngest was just 12 years old. Some relatives are still searching for the graves. They were killed during a three-year bloodbath in the 1980s, in the South African city of East London – by one person. He killed so many, he lost count. In piecing together this story, we expose the disturbed past and racial injustices of South Africa itself. Season 2: The Disciples. The cult of Nigerian prophet TB Joshua. A story of miracles, faith and manipulation, told by people from around the world, who gave up everything for one of the most powerful religious figures of the century. Lured by TB Joshua’s claimed healing powers, they live as disciples in a guarded Lagos compound, cut off from family and friends. Season 1: The Abercrombie Guys. An investigation into claims of sexual exploitation made against the former CEO of fashion giant Abercrombie & Fitch. He and his British partner were accused by several men, recruited for sex events they hosted around the world. #WorldofSecrets

I commend the BBC for this outstanding investigative journalism. Exposing the crimes and atrocities that happened at the Synagogue Church under TB Joshua's leadership must have taken a lot of work! This particular podcast series is incredibly in-depth, eye-opening, and excellently presented. Highly recommend it to everyone seeking to understand how cults work. The storytelling was clean and it takes a closer look at crucial issues around the oppression of women, religion as a tool and how money & poser fuels crimes.
I binged the whole season two of World of Secrets in a day

I normally don’t listen to a lot of newsy podcasts but the Disciples caught my attention as it was huge talking point in my coin and I wanted to join the conversation. I used this pod to complete my day of work and the entire season was done sooo well that I didn’t miss a morsel of the information it covered. In a weird way, episode one gave me nostalgia when they were talking to Rae about the miracle videos that made them come to Nigeria and I was like I saw those videos as a child and I was laughing by the ridiculousness of that moment. If you listen to one documentary podcast this year, let it be the disciples
World of Secrets Season 2: The disciples blew my mind

So as a Nigerian, I have known about this man’s church and as such did not want to watch cos I knew there were going to be some gnarly stuff But this podcast told the entire story so well that it put me in the position of like seeing what they were talking about from location to location bringing all the collective voices together to create a very cohesive story My favourite episode of season 2 of the pod was Miracle Machine, episode 6 cos at that point it got very real for me. As I have had someone close to me die cos of TB Joshua’s ministry before Very well done to the team behind this.
