I realize that some glitches will need to be worked out with the integration of Drive Safe and Save into the State Farm App. My permissions are set correctly but so far the app has been hit or miss. It has only managed to record 2 of my last 10 trips. Hopefully this will be resolved soon. UPDATE: After the 12/13 update that I installed on 12/14, the app is now recording all of my trips. Thanks!

Happy to finally have Drive Safe & Save consolidated into the SF app, but the permissions are extremely intrusive and counterproductive to privacy. Really need to mirror the permissions used in the old Drive Safe & Save app (i.e. Bluetooth and location ONLY required WHEN driving, not all day every day). You don't need to know any other aspect of our life other than driving. If you don't fix this, users will leave due to major security concerns with the new app.

Hi Trevor, we only access data needed for specific app features to work correctly and only with your permission. The required location permission helps ensure that trips automatically start and stop recording when you start and stop driving, so you don’t need to remember to open the app every time you drive. ~ State Farm Android Team

The app has to track my location even when I'm not in my vehicle "for my safety". That's ridiculous, intrusive, and runs my battery down. Might not be worth the Drive Safe and Save discount unless you change some of this. Edited: I turn off Bluetooth when not driving my car (I often go many days at a time without driving) so there's no need for me to be tracked, or have this running, when it's not in use. This is no longer an option to stop this as before when I just turned off Bluetooth.

Hi Missy, the app periodically runs technical health checks, which include your device’s location permission, to make sure everything is working. The checks help ensure trips automatically and correctly record, so you don’t need to open the app every time you drive. Enable notifications on your mobile device to know when health checks happen.
