Patre magistro ludorum, Atal Bihari Vajpayee in urbe natali educatus est apud collegium Victoriae Gwaliorense. Alumnus est collegii Dayanandi Anglovedici Kanpurensis ubi scientiae politicae studuit. Conscriptus est consilio populari^(en) ab anno 1957. Minister a rebus externis a die 26 Martii 1977 usque ad 28 Iulii 1979 factus est, primo ministro Morarji Desai. Ipse bis primus minister meruit, a die 16 Maii 1996 ad 1 Iunii eiusdem anni, iterum ab 19 Martii 1998 ad 22 Maii 2004.
