Dear GitHub Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am a dedicated user of GitHub Projects and currently utilizing it to manage one main project that oversees five sub-projects. While I appreciate the flexibility of GitHub Projects, I have encountered some challenges in effectively managing tasks across multiple projects. I am writing to inquire about potential solutions or feature enhancements that could address these challenges.
My Current Workflow:
I use a main project to oversee five sub-projects.
I have linked the sub-projects within the main project using their respective URLs.
Each sub-project has its own To Do, In Progress, and Done lists.
Challenges:
Manual Updates: I must manually manage each sub-project’s task lists separately, which becomes cumbersome when tracking updates across projects.
Lack of Unified Task View: Tasks from the sub-projects do not automatically sync with the main project’s To Do, In Progress, and Done lists.
Limited Roadmap Integration: The main project’s roadmap does not display tasks or timelines from the sub-projects, making it difficult to manage deadlines and overall progress at a macro level.
Desired Functionality:
I am seeking a feature or integration that allows:
Automatic Synchronization: When tasks in the sub-projects’ To Do, In Progress, or Done lists are updated, these changes are reflected in the main project automatically.
Unified Task Management: The ability to manage all tasks from sub-projects directly within the main project, without the need to switch between projects.
Enhanced Roadmap Integration: A comprehensive roadmap in the main project that aggregates and displays tasks from all sub-projects, including their start and due dates, for better macro-level management.
Questions:
Is there an existing feature or workaround within GitHub Projects that supports this type of synchronization across projects?
If not, are there plans to implement such a feature in the future?
Alternatively, are there third-party tools or integrations (e.g., with Zapier, Make.com, or Notion) that you would recommend for achieving this functionality?
I believe this feature would significantly enhance the utility of GitHub Projects, particularly for users managing multiple interconnected projects. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or recommendations you can provide.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Beck Hou
