Limitations and challenges searchgpt need to solve

[edit]

SearchGPT might face several challenges that could impact its adoption and success

  • Similarity to Perplexity: SearchGPT’s responses, including links and news references, are similar to Perplexity, making it difficult for users to see a clear reason to switch.
  • Integration with ChatGPT: While OpenAI plans to integrate SearchGPT with ChatGPT, this could confuse users accustomed to ChatGPT’s simple UI/UX, possibly affecting user adoption.
  • Threat to Publishers: By providing concise summaries, SearchGPT may reduce traffic to source websites, impacting publisher revenue despite linking to the original content.
  • Dependence on Search Engines: Since SearchGPT relies on search engine data, its value proposition may be limited. Users may not find it significantly different from existing search engines.
  • Accuracy Concerns: Like other AI models, SearchGPT could produce inaccurate information, especially in critical fields, raising concerns about reliability and bias.
  • User Adoption: Convincing users to shift from established search engines like Google will be difficult, requiring SearchGPT to build trust and offer a clear competitive advantage.
