ysilme: Detail of London tube plan made from thick ropes of oil paint. (Tate by tube)
I’m in the process of cleaning out my circle / flist quite a bit.

The last few years have brought a lot of change to me with more to come, and I haven’t been able to socialise online in the way I’d like to for a considerable time. I always hoped things would get better and I would find more leisure for this, but it just never happened.
Some of the changes are positive, but also burnout as well as the constant feeling of being overwhelmed and never managing to catch up have become steady companions, and I realised I need to make some changes for the sake of my mental health. Shrinking my circle and flist to the people I’m actively interacting with here or elsewhere is part of this, I hope you’ll understand.

ysilme: Open-faced book with caption "Challenges Exchanges & Fests oh my" (Challenges & Exchanges)

I only found out about the [community profile] threesentenceficathon exchange a few days ago at [personal profile] trobadora's but got immediately hooked - such an easy concept, so many lovely prompts, and so many of them also generic so can be used for any fandom! 😁 The what & how on their sticky entry is really easy to understand, but it boils down to this: anybody can post prompts and post fills of three sentences or more, as often as they want. Go check it out, it's really fun!

As ficlets are perfect to dip your toes into a new fandom, I'm having a lot of fun with some of them already with various Age of Sail ideas, altough the first and so far only one I filled isn't one of them:

1. Chance Encounter on the AO3 and on Squidgeworld | Fandoms: LotR/Sharpe (TV)/Actor RPF | chacaters: Boromir, Richard Sharpe, Sean Bean | gen, crossover

I've posted a few prompts myself already; you'll find them on these pages:
Entry 2/p. 9 and Entry 2/p. 10:
  • 223: Hornblower, Hornblower & Bush or Pellew, tea-drinking

  • 224: Hornblower, Hornblower, Bush, adopted by the ship's cat

  • 225: Hornblower, Hornblower, Pellew, even an Admiral might need to be rescued

  • 225: any Age of Sail fandoms, any, characters from different fandoms end up with each other in an awkward situation

  • 227: Master and Commander/ Jack Aubrey Series + Star Trek, Stephen Maturin, tea with the captain

I finally managed to get another drabble finished for this series, and realised I've never posted #26 also over here. Both drabbles are also using prompts from 2019's B2MeM Bingo  card The Apothecary Garden. I'm also not sure if I ever posted all drabbles of the series also here on DW, but you'll find them on the AO3, Squideworld and FFnet.

Does anybody know what the issue with Imgur is? I find my photos hosted there aren't displayed any longer, and I can't also see any of my images when I log in, just placeholder squares, since about two days, and I also found images from others using the service aren't displaying.

Sharing an info by [personal profile] hhimring :

Because this seems to have spread since I first saw it warned for and now is affecting writers in the Tolkien fandom as well, I thought it would be worth putting an alert here, as well:
There is now at least one spambot (perhaps more than one) that accuses writers in  AO3 comments of having their work written by an AI.
If this happens to you: it is spam, you did nothing to provoke it, so don't take it personally.
What you need to do is to hit the Spam button next to the comment to report it to AO3, rather than just delete it.

MSV 2023 collection on the AO3

I didn't participate as a writer this year, but joined [personal profile] red_lasbelin as a moderator. It's been a fantastic experience, particularly working together with red who is super easy to work with and had endless patience for everything I was unfamiliar with, and I have a wholly new appreciation of the job mods do in a one-to-one gift fic exchange. Thank you for taking your chance with me, red, and for being such a terrific mentor! ♥
