A prominent Bradford city centre building has officially re-opened for businesses.
1 Godwin Street had been vacant after Vanquis/Provident moved out and into a smaller unit next door.
Last month, Wizu Workspace, a design-led flexible workspace provider completed its move to the building, and will bring its flexible workspace offer to the heart of Bradford city centre.
The agreement with landlord, Nice Leisure includes Wizu delivering flexible workspace as well as the full building management and compliance services.
Who are Wizu?
For Wizu’s founders, the launch was especially meaningful.
Both were born and raised in Bradford, making this expansion not just a commercial decision, but a personal one.
Tom Almas, CEO and co-founder of Wizu Workspace, commented: “Bradford is where it all started for us.
"We were both born and brought up here, and we’ve always wanted to provide a premium, flexible option for workspaces for businesses, so they don’t have to look outside of the city.
“Opening at 1 Godwin Street feels like the right building, at the right time, for the right city.
"This isn’t just about offices - it’s about confidence, pride and creating an environment that shows Bradford means business. In addition to our premium office offering, we aim to provide opportunities for food and beverage operators and health and wellbeing facilities on site.”
What will the new space provide?
Designed to support start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs and established businesses alike, the new workspace will provide:
- Private offices for teams of 2 - 100+ people
- Flexible coworking memberships
- High-spec meeting rooms with video conferencing
- Health and fitness facilities
- Virtual office solutions for growing businesses
- A programme of community events, networking and wellbeing initiatives
First tenants being welcomed
Following the September opening, a spokesperson for the company said: “Interest has continued to increase since opening, and we’re now welcoming our first tenants to their new home.
“Wizu are busy planning the official opening party.
"The opening party is designed to give business owners, founders, teams and partners a first-hand look at what 1 Godwin Street offers, in a relaxed and sociable setting.”
The opening marks the latest development on the Thornton Road corridor.
Last year, Bradford Live finally opened after years of work, and last month Bradford College opened a new engineering school in a state of the art new building.
A low carbon energy plant has recently been completed, with a Starbucks opening on an neighbouring site.
