Elgin’s Oktoberfest beer festival returns with new name change
Moray’s very own Oktoberfest is set to return in the middle of this month.
Due to take place on October 16-17 in Elgin Town Hall, the event was previously known as Moktoberfest.
However, the committee took the decision to rename it after feedback suggested that some people thought the drinks may not have any alcohol in them.
Elgin Oktoberfest will be the usual mix of live musical talent, rare and unusual draught beers, cider and spirits alongside hotdogs and speciality sausages supplied by local butcher AJ Jamieson.
This year the bar team have leant into the Oktoberfest theme and will have genuine Bavarian beers, as well as European fruit beers on draught.
The event has always prioritised supporting local businesses including micro brewers, distillers, musicians, printers, butchers and caterers. In addition to this, the Rotary Club of Elgin and Elgin Town Hall for the Community have received substantial donations to help support their charitable activities over the years.
As much money as possible goes back into the community.
Collaboration is important and the organisers are proud to have been supported in their efforts by local businesses who helped fund the event - in particular Metro Rod Highlands, Against the Grain, Saltaire Security, Bothy Creative, Hoopdawgs and Hendersons Decorators also contribute to its success buy bringing themselves, guests and donating generously as well.
Tickets to the event are limited due to capacity, however, despite lower numbers, the atmosphere last year was as fun and inclusive as ever. Advance purchase of tickets is highly recommended.
The organisers are offering to refund the cost of your ticket in tokens if you come in traditional German beer festival dress.
