Dr. Markus Meier is the CEO of Kantonsspital Aarau (KSA). Previously, he served as the director of Hirslanden Clinic Aarau for almost seven years, establishing it as one of the most cost-efficient regional hospitals in Switzerland with excellent quality indicators. He was later appointed Group General Manager Operational Excellence by the parent company Mediclinic. Dr. Meier began his career as a health economist at Novartis International in the pharmaceutical industry, before joining PwC, where he specialized in hospital optimization, restructuring, and transformation. He then worked at University Hospital Bern as Head of Strategic Management and led the merger between the University Hospital and Spital Netz Bern AG, forming the Insel Group, the largest hospital merger in Switzerland to date. Dr. Meier has also lectured in health economics and hospital management at the University of Basel and Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).
