Get to know me

I am a writer and editor with a degree in English Literature. I believe a trustworthy article can provide so much value to people looking for answers or trying to manage their symptoms. It can even be life changing, in some cases. This is what motivated me to join Healthline Media in 2020. Initially, I worked exclusively for Medical News Today, but now I work on various websites within the group.

My approach

My approach to my work is always a balance between evidence and empathy. There is a lot of high quality, scientific information out there, but it can feel confusing and impersonal. I try to balance the scientific and human elements in the topics I pitch, the way I structure articles, and how I write them. The human body is complex, and my aim in creating content is always to ensure people come away feeling they understand theirs just a bit better.

Content integrity

The integrity of the content I produce, either as an editor or writer, is very important to me. The two cornerstones of this are accuracy and careful language choices. All of my content is reviewed by an appropriate medical professional before publication. When I update an older piece, it is often reviewed again to ensure it is factual and up-to-date. We also have strong editorial guidelines that help us create content that is clear and nonjudgmental.

How does disability affect sexuality?

In researching this piece, I found that there was so little sexual health information out there aimed at disabled people, but also a lot of misconceptions from people who aren’t disabled about what they do and don’t need. I wanted to address both problems here, busting some myths about disability and sexuality while giving disabled people resources, tips, and personal experiences they may find relatable. How to support someone with a chronic condition

So many of us are in this position at some point in our lives, but knowing how to help can be really difficult. I wanted this article to serve as a starting point, grounded in research and input from several people with real-life experiences. Ways to support someone with a chronic condition

What is gray rocking?

I couldn’t not include this article here. Not only is it an interesting topic, but this article was briefly mentioned on the BBC show (by David Tennant, no less). I pitched and edited a series of articles on abusive relationships for Medical News Today, and it remains one of the projects I’m proudest of. What is gray rocking?

Online color blind test: Example and results

In this article, I collaborated with our design team to create an example of the real color blindness test that opticians use. This involved 38 unique images that had to be created with precision to recreate the test. Online color blindness test
