The Variable Most Performance Programs Never Measure
If you've ever done a fitness program and wondered why the results didn't transfer to how you actually felt at work — this is for you.
There's a conversation happening in elite performance right now that I think is going to reshape how we think about human optimisation entirely.
It's not about recovery protocols. It's not about sleep stacks or cold plunges or breathwork (though those things matter). It's about something more fundamental: the ability to measure what's actually happening inside your nervous system, in real time, and use that data to train emotional resilience the way athletes train physical resilience.
We're in the early stages of that shift. And IN TRUTH is right in the middle of it.
What Athletes Understand That Most Professionals Don't
Elite athletes don't train based on how they feel. They train based on what the data shows.
HRV. Lactate threshold. VO2 max. Recovery scores. The whole apparatus of modern sports science exists because coaches figured out that subjective experience is unreliable. You can feel great and be overtrained. You can feel terrible and be exactly where you need to be. The data tells the truth that perception can't.
We apply this rigorously to physical performance. And then we walk into the boardroom, the classroom, the consulting room — the places where emotional performance matters most — and we rely entirely on how we think we're doing.
That gap is the problem we're solving.
React. Rebound. The Two Metrics That Change Everything.
With Gen 2, we're measuring something we call React & Rebound.
React is your sympathetic charge — how strongly your nervous system responds to a stressor. Rebound is your parasympathetic recovery — how fast you return to baseline.
Here's what our data shows: it's not the React that predicts wellbeing outcomes. It's the Rebound.
In a study of 49 people over 4 weeks, people with high Reactivity and fast Rebound had an average anxiety score of 2.04. People with high Reactivity and slow Rebound had an average anxiety score of 4.38. Same level of sensitivity to the world. Completely different outcomes — based purely on how fast they recovered.
This is a significant finding. It means sensitivity isn't the liability we've been told it is. Getting stuck is the liability. And getting stuck is something you can actually train.
What Training Actually Looks Like
We launched the IN TRUTH Performance Lab because we wanted to create a structured container for people who are ready to do this work properly.
Not a wellness program. Not a meditation app. A genuine performance protocol — built around your biometric data, your specific React & Rebound profile, and evidence-based interventions that actually move the needle.
The model is simple: you wear the device, we establish your baseline, and then we work with what the data shows. Not what you think is happening. Not a self-report questionnaire you fill out on a Friday afternoon. The actual, continuous, real-time signal from your nervous system.
The Performance Lab is running now. And the early results are exactly what we hoped for — people are seeing their Rebound times improve. They're watching their dysregulation episodes decrease. They're building the thing that most performance programs never even attempt to measure: emotional agility.
Why This Matters Beyond the Individual
I want to be honest about the bigger picture here, because I think it's important.
The reason I care so much about making this technology accessible isn't just about individual performance gains. It's about what happens at scale.
When a team has visibility over their collective emotional state — when a leader can see that their team is in chronic dysregulation, not just 'a bit stressed' — the conversation changes. The interventions change. The decisions about workload, culture, and support change.
When a school has data on teacher nervous system states across a term, the conversation about burnout becomes impossible to avoid. It's no longer a perception problem. It's a data problem. And data problems have solutions.
We are building the emotional intelligence layer for human performance and health. That's the mission. The Performance Lab, the GPS pilots in schools, the clinical partnerships — they're all expressions of the same belief: that you cannot improve what you cannot measure.
And for too long, we haven't been measuring the thing that matters most.
One More Thing
If you're reading this and thinking I want that data about myself — you can get it. The app is live. The Performance Lab is enrolling. The waitlist for the next cohort is open.
This is real. It's available now. And if there's a version of you that performs better under pressure, recovers faster, and operates with more intention — the data is the starting point.
