Do you have a Wealth Mindset?

Do you have a Wealth Mindset?

You will know by just listening to yourself. Do you find yourself saying I can't afford this" or "I wish I could have that"? If you do, you need to brush up on your mindset. Do you see the glass half full or do you see the glass half full? These questions will point you to the right answer.

So, how do I move from an average earner to the big times? Educating oneself is a step in the right direction. Jim Rohn, one of the top motivators of his time said once, " Formal education will make you a living. Self-education will make you a fortune." There are many great books on changing your mindset. One of my favourites is an older one that is classic, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. The story behind his book is equally as fascinating. Napoleon Hill, as a young man, wanted to be rich. He had a opportunity to meet Andrew Carnegie, a wealthy industrialist, and posed the question of what do the richest people in the world have in common in order to gain such wealth. Andrew Carnegie was taken with the question and told the young man that he could introduce him to the wealthiest people in the world, but he would have to use his funds to get there. He told Napoleon that if he found the answer he would certainly be wealthy himself. This was way back in the early 1900's when you had to take a ship or train to where you were travelling and it took months to get to some of these places. It took Napoleon years to talk to all these people since he had to take time out to make money so he could travel. What he discovered filled a book! When he finally finished his book, he took it from one publisher to the next. They told him his material was hogwash and they weren't interested in printing his book. So he got creative. He asked one publisher that if he could prove his book was right, would he print it? So, Napoleon found 2 people that were not well off and asked if they were open to learning how to be wealthy. He used the ideas in his book to help these two men gain wealth and the rest is history.

The first step to gaining wealth is to know what you want. What is your vision for your life? I am always surprised when I meet people who have no dreams and aspirations. They just live each day as it comes without any thought of what they are doing or why. Some people believe that they are stuck in a job with no real future. No matter where you are today, you can change tomorrow. Your vision doesn't need to be crystal clear, but as you move towards it, doors of opportunity will open for you. You have heard of the statement, " A teacher will appear when the pupil is ready". Successful people are always open to looking at opportunities. It doesn't mean they take on each one, but they do give them some thought. Is this idea a good one? Where will this idea take me? Is this idea worth my time and money? These are the questions to ask yourself before you proceed. Notice I didn't ask, what if I fail? That question has no place in a wealth mindset.

Another thought on your vision is most often people are successful doing things they love. Think about what makes you happy. If you are going to spend a lot of time on something, you should pick something you find interesting. Think about what your talents and gifts are and put them to use. If you have chosen your vision well, you should feel excited , the kind of excitement that keeps you awake at night and gets you up early in the morning. You should feel the confidence that you can do this!

I do believe in meditation. If you want to get your thoughts clear, there is nothing like a little down time where you are totally relaxed and ideas will begin to pour from you. Take 15 minutes each day , preferably at the same time, Start just by being aware of your toes and think about your body all the way up to your hair. It tends to put you in a state of mind where you are controlling your mind by not letting you think of other thoughts bombarding you. In one session, I created a workshop in my mind. I mentally created a beautiful space that I was comfortable in . Every time I need answers , I would go to my workshop during my meditation. I often brought in a famous person who excelled in the area I had a question for, such as, a leader in business or a strong leader. I would then poise a question and it was amazing how often I got creative answers. You do need to be patient with meditation but it will work.

Why don't you give it a try and let me know how it worked for you?
