The shift toward AI‑native networks isn’t a single leap, it’s a step‑by‑step evolution. I recently came across a blog by Erik Ekudden that breaks down how networks are evolving from 5G Standalone to AI‑powered 5G, and ultimately toward AI‑native 6G. What stood out is how AI applications are already changing network demands, driving more uplink‑heavy, latency‑sensitive traffic. As a result, traditional best‑effort connectivity starts to fall short, and networks need to evolve into something more intelligent and adaptive. Has broadband become a commodity? After a series of meetings with broadband providers around the world, I've found myself asking that question. During the pandemic, growth came easily. Demand for broadband surged, and keeping customers connected was the priority. Today, it's a different conversation. The providers I'm meeting with are asking how they can create more value from the network that's already in the home. Recent Parks Associates research reinforces what I'm hearing. As gigabit speeds become commonplace, providers are increasingly competing on reliability, protection, AI, and the overall subscriber experience, not just bandwidth.
