Over the past months, I've had the opportunity to see PIX Moving's deployments and discussions across China, the Middle East, Japan and Europe. What stands out isn't the technology itself. It's how quickly the conversation has shifted from "Will this work?" to "Where does it make the most sense?" Every deployment on a public road builds trust. Every city teaches us something new. Every partnership brings autonomous mobility one step closer to becoming part of everyday life. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗵𝗲𝗻. 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, + 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮. While in town, I tested two services: Baidu, Inc.'s Apollo Go and Pony.ai. What surprised me most: ▪️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲. To pedestrians outside: "Don't worry, I'm driving forward. I'll let you pass through." To passengers inside: "Do you want me to play something else?" (Yes, there's even a karaoke mode.) ▪️ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. The cars follow traffic flow, change lanes, and route-plan seamlessly. On a rainy drive, the wiper ran for passenger visibility – not driver visibility. The system is built on defensive driving, not offensive. (Wait one moment longer while the pedestrian / other vehicle has right of way.) ▪️ 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮. My friend joked that his robotaxi chose the most complicated route just to learn. From narrow lanes to roads with zero signage, the vehicles navigated crowds and filled traffic gaps alongside human drivers. The tech has fundamentally changed taxi behaviour. Instead of waving your arm to flag down a ride, you can meet your ride at one of many drop-off and pick-up points. And while it currently takes a robotaxi 2–3 minutes longer to get to your destination than a human driver, the technology is learning and adjusting in real time. 🇨🇭 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱: WeRide secured Switzerland's first fully driverless permit from Federal Roads Office FEDRO in November 2025. Switzerland isn't competing on volume. Here, the advantages lie in ecosystem integration, regulatory pragmatism, and research excellence.
