We're seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer Consultant to join our consulting team. This role is ideal for a hands-on security professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while working across multiple client environments.
Position OverviewReactforce is seeking a highly experienced Senior Security Engineer to support cybersecurity consulting engagements involving the implementation, optimization, and management of enterprise security technologies. This role is ideal for an experienced security engineer interested in part-time consulting with the opportunity to transition into a full-time position as Reactforce continues to grow.
Responsibilities- Design, deploy, configure, and support enterprise cybersecurity solutions across diverse client environments
- Implement and manage security technologies including EDR/XDR, SIEM, MDR, firewalls, secure email, web filtering, identity security, and vulnerability management platforms
- Perform security assessments, technical reviews, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening activities
- Lead implementation projects involving Microsoft 365 Security, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Zero Trust initiatives
- Deploy and optimize network security controls including next-generation firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and secure remote access
- Investigate security incidents and assist clients with containment, remediation, and recovery efforts
- Collaborate with Reactforce vCISOs and consultants to implement strategic security roadmaps and technical recommendations
- Provide technical leadership during client engagements and serve as a senior escalation resource
- Create technical documentation, implementation guides, security standards, and client deliverables
- Stay current on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies
- 7+ years of hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience in enterprise, MSP, MSSP, or consulting environments
- Strong experience implementing and managing Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft 365 Security, Conditional Access, MFA, and identity protection
- Experience with SIEM, MDR, XDR, endpoint security, vulnerability management, email security, and security monitoring platforms
- Experience deploying and supporting next-generation firewalls including Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, or similar technologies
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing, switching, and secure network design
- Experience supporting cloud security within Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and client-facing consulting skills
- Ability to independently lead technical implementations and security projects
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, Security+, GIAC, Microsoft Security certifications (SC-200, SC-300, SC-100), Azure certifications, Fortinet NSE, or Palo Alto PCNSE
- Experience supporting compliance initiatives including NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, CMMC, CIS Controls, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and ISO 27001
- Experience with vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7
- Previous consulting or professional services experience
- Experience working alongside SOC, incident response, and managed security teams
- Part-time role or 1099 independent contractor
- Potential path to full-time employment (FTE)
- Flexible schedule based on client demand
