Position Purpose:
The Team Leader is a leader for our HPP associates, typically overseeing 1 or 2 HPP Lines. They are responsible for carrying out and delivering the expectations and customer demands set by the Operations Manager and HPP Supervisor. Team leaders oversee the manufacturing activities and undertake a combination of physical and mental work that ranges from filling out paperwork and filing reports to managing production assembly lines and helping their team complete orders. Team leaders are strong communicators who can motivate a team to achieve Productivity, Schedule, Safety and GMP targets.
Major tasks, responsibilities, and key accountabilities:
Assign all associates to workstations daily tasks and expected outcomes.
Responsible for communicating and executing work assignments to meet set expectations by the department and customer requirements.
Monitor and lead employees during shift to ensure they are following GMP and Safety Regulations.
Training and holding associates accountable for departments, QA, Safety and HPP processes and procedures
Complete the required paperwork for the department and ensure all paperwork submitted by associates is complete and accurate.
Required to communicate with leadership, QA department and Maintenance team.
Handle any minor tasks related to your role.
Excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role.
Monitor staff progress and track it for future assignments to line positions.
Motivate team members to meet production goals.
Examine completed work (in-process and finished goods) to detect defects and verify conformance to specifications.
Collaborate with machine operators, supervisors, and management to ensure progress and time frame for completion of orders.
Execute Line changeovers when switching from product to product. Ensure line clearance process is executed properly.
Ensure that CIPs are appropriately and thoroughly handled according to documented process, schedule and timeline.
Update performance board for responsible lines each hour. Ensure all data is accurate and complete. Where there are excursions from hourly target, provide a thorough explanation of cause and action to correct.
The Line Lead must maintain the optimal use of labor by moving staff along the line, between lines and to other offline tasks (Sanitation, VAS, Rework, etc.) when HPP schedule changes staffing needs or machines unexpectedly shut down for maintenance attention. Maximize machine on-line time and optimizing labor utilization.
The Lead is the first level of trouble shooting with HPP, conveyors, printers, etc. Escalation to the Maintenance department, conveying the sense of urgency and monitoring progress is an essential responsibility
Additional Responsibilities:
Report all persistent or repeat issues to the supervisor immediately for appropriate disciplinary action.
Communicate changeovers with the Quality department and Production team to make sure a third-party verification has taken place.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in the cold storage environment.
Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
Qualifications:
Previous Machine operator experience is required
Experience working in a team environment
Display ability to meet daily deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
Proven satisfactory attendance
Must be flexible with work schedule and job duties with changing work environment
Good communication skills (read, write, and speak English)
Proven legible writing skills
High school diploma/ GED
Working Conditions
This is largely a static role with long periods of standing and walking, however, the ability to perform repetitively bending and standing up is also required. This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally. Must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally.
This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for 8-12 hours a day.
Universal Pure facilities may process, pack, and store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by FDA, team members who may come in direct contact, must be able to work with these ingredients.
