This is a fully on-site position located in Boise, Idaho. Remote and hybrid work are not available for this role.
Western Trailers is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team at our Boise headquarters. This position is responsible for accurate and timely full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 200+ employees across multiple states.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable handling confidential information. We are also working toward modernizing our payroll and timekeeping processes, so this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys improving systems and helping create more efficient workflows.
Responsibilities
Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule
Review employee time records and resolve discrepancies before payroll processing
Maintain employee payroll information, deductions, garnishments, and tax elections
Prepare and submit payroll tax deposits and required federal and state filings
Support quarterly and year-end reporting, including Forms 941, W-2, and W-2C
Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments
Reconcile payroll reports, tax liabilities, deductions, and general ledger accounts
Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and confidentially
Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation
Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews
Coordinate closely with Human Resources, Accounting, and company leadership
Support the transition from manual processes to updated payroll and timekeeping systems
Perform additional payroll and accounting-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
At least three years of hands-on, full-cycle payroll experience required
Experience processing payroll for 200 or more employees preferred
Multi-state payroll experience strongly preferred
Experience preparing payroll tax deposits and filings, including Forms 941 and W-2
Knowledge of wage and hour requirements, payroll taxes, garnishments, and deductions
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet firm deadlines
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

$24–$27 per hour, depending on experience
