General Summary

The MRI Technologist perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses MRI technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

Principal Job Functions

  • *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • *Performs all types of MRI, MRV and MRA procedures.
  • *Practices MRI safety procedures at all times.
  • *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • *Performs venipuncture.
  • *Uses sterile technique as required.
  • *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
  • *Competently operates all MRI equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, and offsite Radiologist Services.
  • *Utilizes department computer systems, and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
  • *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
  • *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • *Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required.
  • *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
  • *Keeps work area properly supplied.

Education And Experience

Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required. MRI certification required within 36 months from date of hire.

Other Credentials / Certifications

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
