Job Summary:
A leading process manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution operations within a multi-shift manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing logistics activities, improving supply chain efficiency, and ensuring the timely movement of raw materials and finished goods. The Logistics Manager will play a key role in reducing costs, improving service levels, and supporting overall operational excellence through effective supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily logistics, transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution operations.
• Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain performance.
• Manage inbound and outbound freight activities, including carrier selection, freight coordination, and transportation planning.
• Monitor inventory levels and partner with production and purchasing teams to ensure material availability.
• Ensure timely delivery of finished products while meeting customer requirements and service expectations.
• Analyze logistics performance metrics, including transportation costs, inventory accuracy, delivery performance, and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain logistics reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Lead, train, coach, and develop warehouse and logistics personnel.
• Manage relationships with transportation carriers, freight brokers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
• Negotiate transportation agreements and identify opportunities for freight cost reduction.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA, and company safety requirements.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within logistics and warehouse operations.
• Support department budgeting, cost control initiatives, and operational planning.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, sales, and customer service teams to improve supply chain performance.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, warehouse management, or distribution operations.
• Experience managing employees and leading logistics or warehouse teams.
• Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of transportation management, inventory control, warehouse operations, and supply chain processes.
• Experience managing third-party logistics providers, carriers, and freight operations.
Special Requirements:
• APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and logistics compliance requirements.
• Experience with ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and logistics software platforms.
• Ability to work onsite within a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation management, inventory control, and distribution processes.
• Experience optimizing freight operations, carrier performance, and logistics costs.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret logistics data and performance metrics.
• Experience with supply chain reporting, forecasting, and operational planning.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop logistics teams.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:
• This position is an onsite role located within the Pittsburgh Regional Area.
• Work will be performed in both office and manufacturing/warehouse environments.
• Position requires regular interaction with warehouse, production, and transportation operations.
• May require occasional travel and schedule flexibility to support operational needs.
• Role may require walking through production and warehouse areas and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
