Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Accountant to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in inventory accounting, purchase order (PO) processes, and NetSuite ERP. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting month-end close activities, reconciling inventory-related accounts, and ensuring proper accounting treatment of inventory transactions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain accurate inventory accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
Reconcile inventory balances, inventory subledgers, and related general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
Review and analyze inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and write-offs.
Monitor and validate purchase order (PO) activity, ensuring accurate matching between POs, receipts, invoices, and inventory records.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, variances, and reconciliation issues.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
Assist with inventory costing, valuation, and reserve calculations.
Partner with Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams to improve inventory controls and reporting accuracy.
Maintain and improve inventory accounting procedures and internal controls.
Prepare inventory-related financial reports, analyses, and management reporting.
Support internal and external audits by providing inventory schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Assist with NetSuite inventory module maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on inventory accounting.
Hands-on experience managing inventory transactions and reconciliations in a multi-location or high-volume environment.
Experience working with purchase orders (POs), receiving processes, and three-way matching.
Proficiency with NetSuite ERP, including inventory and purchasing modules.
Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
