The Department Team Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of team members to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role serves as the key link between site leadership and the shop floor team providing leadership, coaching, and support to maintain safety standards, meet production goals, and foster continuous improvement. The Team Lead monitors workflow, resolves operational issues, and drives adherence to company policies and procedures while promoting a positive and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
Department Lead I - Responsibilities
Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks assigned by Operational Leadership (Supervisor, Value Stream Team Lead, and/or Value Stream Manager).
Coordinate on-the-job training and support for team members.
Verify all safety and quality standards are followed by all team members and escalate any challenges as appropriate.
Communicate production issues and escalate as needed.
Assist in maintaining equipment and work area cleanliness.
Document daily production data and team performance.
Hourly sign off of Day by Hour boards including verifying comments for hours that do not meet production targets.
Maintain Team Improvement Board(s)
Identify potential employee conflicts and escalate as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Good problem-solving skills.
Can read, write, and speak English well enough to perform job responsibilities.
Basic computer knowledge.
Able to learn and use labor scanning software.
Understand routers, ISO procedures, work instructions, and standard work written in English.
General responsibilities for assigned area(s)
Understand and fill out Team Improvement Board.
Verify setup of machines based on established process sheets.
Ensure quality standards are met by team members.
Ability to identify need for rework and escalate as appropriate.
Assist with implementation of process improvements.
Use required measurement devices such as calipers, VMM, or micrometer.
Able to count and record good pieces and scrap on work orders.
Typical Mental And Physical Demands
Spend most of the day walking or standing.
Work with other team members, maintenance, leadership, manufacturing engineering to support the process.
Required to independently lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Use of computer for reporting, emails, and other tasks.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years manufacturing experience.
Basic leadership and communication skills.
Ability to motivate and guide team members.
Knowledge of safety and quality procedures.
Basic computer skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Pay Range: $23.75/hr to $35.5/hr
