Position Summary & Key Responsibilities

As an Associate II, you'll plan, budget, and execute multi-workstream efforts by effectively delegating, establishing trust with clients, and serving as a strong leader and manager. Your primary focus will be on the development and/or revision of training courses and related instructional materials. To be successful in this role, you'll need to excel in four key areas:

  • Project Work:
    • Oversee training development projects, reviewing content for adherence to technical specifications
    • Produce high-quality deliverables based on contractual and internal process requirements
    • Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, effectively managing time and available resources to deliver courses on time without sacrificing quality
    • Estimate level of effort for proposed course revisions, proactively communicating and mitigating any deviations to stay within allotted training budget
    • Use technology-including automations and AI-responsibly and effectively to increase efficiency, quality, and team coordination while not substituting human judgement.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Lead client communications on assigned courses, communicating proactively and professionally to align expectations and maintain trust
    • Maintain a high standard of client satisfaction by ensuring timely, high-quality, and error-free work that aligns with client needs
    • Anticipate client needs and help shape project approaches that support long‑term client success
  • Subject-Matter Expertise:
    • Apply instructional systems design and adult learning expertise to increase interactivity among assigned courses and strengthen learning outcomes
    • Leverage project management skills to manage deadlines, anticipate risk, and practice effective time management
    • Develop and apply functional knowledge of Federal emergency management roles to support training development, working with government and contractor SMEs
    • Support capability growth by training others, sharing best practices, and mentoring early-career team members
  • Leadership and Culture:
    • Manage multiple project team members by aligning expectations, building processes, balancing workloads, and ensuring 360-degree feedback that is timely, candid, and supportive
    • Manage other team members as assigned, serving as a mentor, ensuring clear expectations across workstreams, advising on performance and growth, and managing administrative tasks like timesheets and formal performance management.
    • Communicate project risks and challenges and recommend thoughtful solutions
    • Practice emotional intelligence: listening to understand, adapting communication styles, and demonstrating respect for differing perspectives

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in professional service delivery; a master's degree may substitute for experience
  • 2+ years experience working as a government contractor directly managing client interactions and satisfaction
  • 4+ years of Project Management experience (managing multiple priorities & competing deadlines as well as cross functional teams)
  • Proficiency in e-learning tools such as Articulate.
  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years of on-the-ground Instructional systems design experience
  • Excellent communication, writing, and facilitation skills
  • Must reside in one of the following states: AL, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX
  • Proficiency in MS 365 suite
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%
  • Ability to pass Federal background investigations

Nice-To-Have Qualifications

  • Direct experience with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and/or emergency management-specific training and curriculum development
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
