Reports to: Discipline Manager, Architecture

Location: Louisville, KY area strongly preferred

About the Role

At Luckett & Farley, we believe design is a promise to our clients, our communities, and the future we share. We're looking for an Architect to be a core team member on complex industrial and distillery projects, bringing hands-on experience across both building types alongside the curiosity, vision, and passion for architecture that defines our culture.

This role works closely with project leadership from early concept through construction administration, contributing meaningful design and technical expertise across a diverse portfolio — and supporting the broader architecture studio as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Develop client-driven design work that enriches the client experience and delivers unimagined value -honoring the culture, heritage, and place of each project.
  • Contribute to manufacturing, logistics and distillery design projects from inception through completion, developing design concepts and construction documents with a strong understanding of each project's technical and operational requirements.
  • Support and participate in manufacturing, logistics and distillery project delivery -understanding each project holistically; site, architectural and interior elements, integrated with structural, mechanical and electrical engineering systems, that address clients’ goals, space needs and operations requirements.
  • Support other design studio projects as capacity and expertise allow
  • Participate in construction administration activities: RFIs, submittals, site observations, punch lists, and coordination with contractors and trades.
  • Conduct and support site visits, building scanning, and field documentation -with availability for local and regional travel as required.
  • Collaborate as one integrated team with engineers, interior designers, and specialists -bringing disciplines together around shared goals.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, communicating clearly, consistently, and proactively.
  • Mentor and support team members, actively contributing to the knowledge of others.
  • Actively support the strategic goals of the firm and department.

What We're Looking For:

Technical & Experience Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor of Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 6 - 10 years of professional experience as a licensed architect.
  • Industrial or manufacturing and logistics facility experience required; automotive experience a strong plus.
  • Distillery design experience or strong familiarity with distillery facilities (Grain handling, cooking and fermentation, distillation, blending and bottling and maturation).
  • Working knowledge of codes applicable to manufacturing and distillery environments: IBC and KBC and referenced standards, including for hazardous occupancy classifications, NFPA standards, and TTB facility requirements.
  • Extensive construction administration experience — equally comfortable in the field and at the desk.
  • Strong coordination skills across engineering disciplines; you understand how systems integrate and how to keep complex projects coherent.
  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Photoshop.
  • NCARB Certification required; LEED AP preferred.

The Right Mindset

  • Team player and collaborator.
  • Passionate about all things’ architecture; you care deeply about how buildings make people feel and how they shape communities
  • Genuinely curious- you ask better, deeper, unexpected questions before jumping to solutions.
  • Hungry for knowledge- you actively seek out new ideas, emerging materials, and evolving design approaches
  • Committed to delivering high-quality results reliably and taking full ownership of outcomes.
  • A clear, effective communicator who is direct, easy to work with, and responds quickly and thoughtfully to client needs, feedback, and challenges.
  • Highly organized, with a strong sense of personal ownership and follow-through.
  • Resilient under pressure; you address conflict constructively and keep relationships productive through difficult moments.
