Thomas Ratz liked thisThomas Ratz liked thisI do not typically post too many personal things here, however, I feel compelled to share how much Veterans Day means to my family. In addition to being a family of generation veterans, most of my, well, all of my adulthood has been as a military spouse. I am so thankful for not only those that have and are serving, but for their families and those that support them as well. In the thick of it, you just do it because you have to and there is no option but to keep moving forward. Reflecting on our family experience now that Lance Huffman has retired, I realize how much it impacted us. Him, me, and our kids. It has shaped who we are today and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible support system through the good times and the hard times. I will never forget the feeling of him reuniting with our kids after his last deployment. It is a reminder of the sacrifice military families make and the pride that we have in serving our country. In recognition of all those that have and are serving - and their families that are behind the scenes keeping things moving forward - Happy Veterans Day!

A special thanks to my DG leadership team for supporting this journey, and to Kim and Rachel for designing such a thoughtful, hands-on program. Your structure, guidance, and encouragement made this experience truly impactful. From strategic planning and cultural competency to legal responsibilities and fundraising, we covered the full spectrum of what it means to lead with purpose. With the support of our amazing community, our cohort surpassed our $6,000 goal—raising over $9,000 to help equip future leaders. I’m stepping into this next chapter grounded in compassion, empathy, and intentionality—committed to uplifting our communities and driving meaningful, lasting change.
