Most AI right now is built for industries that were already digital. John Larkin, our Head of Engineering, explains why Rebar is betting on the harder version: building for an industry where the work still happens on paper. He gets into what we're building and why the trades are such fertile ground. If you're in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing, or just curious about vertical AI that has actual customers, give it a watch. A bit about how we work: small team, real ownership, and you ship to customers who'll tell you within the hour whether you got it right. No layers, no theater, just hard problems and fast feedback. We're also hiring engineers. Open roles here: https://lnkd.in/eubEm7Fm
About us
Get takeoffs for HVAC back in minutes, not days. HVAC rep firms, distributors, and contractors spend too much time and money on estimating. Save your salespeople from doing it. Make your estimators lives easier. Stop outsourcing.

Rebar was proud to be a sponsor at the Technical Air Systems 2026 Golf Outing! A big thank you to our sales team, Christopher Lagana and Nick Castura, for representing Rebar on the course. Events like these are a great reminder of the relationships that drive the industry forward. Thanks to Technical Air Systems, Inc. for having us - we're grateful for the partnership.🏌

Last night, our founder Evan Brown joined Gavin Myers from Prudence at Blueprint Society NYC's Next-Gen Trade Tech event in NYC - a small, curated crowd at the ITALKRAFT Showroom talking about where AI is actually headed in the built industry. They got into how AI is changing project management and tackling workforce challenges in HVAC takeoffs, and what it actually takes to scale a disruptive technology in construction. Thanks to Blueprint Society for putting this fantastic event together.

A career update and an open role for my network - here it goes: I am departing Trackforce and starting a new role as Head of Sales at Rebar. As I wrap my time there, I want to acknowledge how grateful I am for Danielle Tabor introducing me to Trackforce. You’re the best! Next - I am beyond appreciative of the all the learning I got to do during my time at Trackforce, especially from folks like Doug Dockery, Chris Schwartz, and Jeff DiDomenico. To the reps, whom I hopefully helped in their sales journey, thanks for always being honest with me and trusting that I had your back. I am a resource to you for the remainder of your careers should you need me. So - about what’s next. I’m excited to work with Evan Brown, Andrew Schwartz, and the entire Rebar team in NYC. They have built a company that is positioned directly at the convergence point between the skilled trades and AI. Can’t think of a better place to build a team than in that type of environment. AI-native sales teams are here to stay and we are gonna build an incredible sales organization fit for this moment. With that - I’m hiring AEs IN PERSON in NYC. We are bringing back a collaborative, human, thriving in-person sales function. I’ve been wanting to be back in the office for a few years, and it’s finally happening. Role is here: https://lnkd.in/envFmg_Z Apply - then message me and we can chat. Let’s get after it.

We're still hiring talented engineers at Rebar! We're applying computer vision, VLMs, and AI systems to real-world construction workflows - starting specifically with HVAC reps and suppliers. The technical problems are challenging and concrete (pun intended). They include visual reasoning over dense construction docs, low-latency real-time collaboration, and deep understanding of customer workflows / pain points. The impact is dramatically saving time for our users and helping our customers win more. We have two roles open currently. One for engineers excited about helping elevate our flagship customer facing product. The other to build the underlying context layer and foundation of our next version for our Rebar agent. If you're interested in the challenge, please hit me up! https://lnkd.in/eUPqEGzq https://lnkd.in/e88wp5wi

Today I had the opportunity to represent Rebar in Denver, Colorado at the ASHRAE Rocky Mountain Chapter conference as one of Air Purification Company's speakers. I had the chance to speak with Engineering and HVAC professionals about the Role of AI in Modern HVAC Engineering, and how it can be applied in practical, real-world applications. A lot of today’s conversation focused on how much of the engineering industry is still in the early stages of adopting AI, and how underserved this market remains by tools built specifically for the way technical teams actually work. In HVAC, engineering, and construction, the real opportunity is not to replace technical expertise, but to supercharge it. It was great connecting with the ASHRAE community in Denver and discussing where AI can create meaningful impact for engineers, contractors, and the broader built environment. #ASHRAE #HVAC #Engineering #AI #ConstructionTechnology #MEP #Rebar

Jordan Viniar, General Partner at Prudence, came in to speak to our team last week! Prudence led our Series A, and Jordan came in to share their investment thesis for Rebar and walk us through their broader view on investing in construction, real estate, and infrastructure. It was a great reminder of why this space is so exciting right now - the amount of value waiting to be unlocked in these industries is massive. Having investors who don't just write checks but show up, engage with the team, and share real conviction is something we don't take for granted. Thank you, Jordan! We're fired up.
