On July 30, 1778, the Continental Congress enacted the world's first whistleblower protection law, after a group of officers in the Continental Navy risked their careers to expose misconduct by a superior officer. That's why America now celebrates National Whistleblower Day on July 30th each year. The work we do at Whistleblower Aid to support and defend brave truth tellers is a time-honored tradition as old as America itself. We help courageous whistleblowers expose lawbreaking safely, responsibly, and legally—at no cost to them. Donations from supporters like you drive our mission. Help us continue the work begun by our founders to protect those who defend the rule of law: https://lnkd.in/e9F3fjRh

Last year, six of our clients disclosed to Congress that Meta was knowingly putting children at risk on its VR platform and its apps like Instagram. Two of these courageous whistleblowers testified publicly to Congress on the disregard of child safety that they witnessed at Meta. The other four were anonymous. Recently, Meta hunted down two previously anonymous whistleblowers who are now identifying themselves publicly—Josh DeFriez and Will Sevedge—and terminated them, despite their exemplary performance records. Today, Senator Chuck Grassley stepped in on Josh and Will's behalf, demanding that Meta explain the retaliatory terminations and "provide all records." Our thanks to Senator Grassley for defending our brave truthtellers. It is past time for Meta to be held accountable for its disregard of child safety and its exploitation of young users for financial gain. https://lnkd.in/eWqUk2UN

WhistleblowerAid.org client Ryan Schwank spoke with Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd about the recent fatal shootings by ICE officers and the policy failures behind the tragedies. "ICE has the ability to choose where and when it makes a stop.... They're choosing the time and place of these engagements, and yet they're choosing engagements that escalate very quickly into catastrophic and fatal consequences." Ryan says that ICE's decision yesterday to pause most traffic stops—before President Trump ordered them to resume today—"was an admission for all intents and purposes that there was something wrong with the process." BREAKING: The Trump administration tried to falsely declare 2.7 million people as dead in Social Security records, in order to upend their lives and force them out of the country. Our client Jeremiah Schofield is now blowing the whistle on this illegal scheme, after refusing to carry out the administration's plan to “kill off” millions of people in the system. Now, Senators Richard Blumenthal and Elizabeth Warren want answers and are demanding that senior administration officials preserve all records related to the disclosed events. Jeremiah spoke with the Washington Post about his explosive new revelations. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eq7rKfqB

Yesterday, the Trump administration proposed making all federal employees sign NDAs. Whistleblower Aid co-founder Mark Zaid spoke with NBC News about the White House's real goal in pursuing this policy. “It would appear this new effort serves only the purpose of trying to induce fear and intimidate the workforce so as to stop unauthorized but lawful disclosures of information that has often resulted in negative publicity for the Administration.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dqjG-Tp4

This week, Whistleblower Aid CEO Libby Liu and Chief Strategy Officer Naomi Seligman joined our client ICE whistleblower Ryan Schwank at Web Summit to talk tech, media, and government with leading experts. Libby spoke as part of a panel on the growing power and political influence of "tech bros" in modern society, and presented on the dangers and complexities of consolidating media outlets in profit-driven corporate conglomerates. As a finale, Libby and Ryan took center stage today to discuss Ryan's decision to blow the whistle on unconstitutional and dangerous ICE policies, as well as the importance of whistleblowers in these troubling times for our democracy. We were honored to be a part of this world-class event and talk about the biggest challenges of our time.

Our client ICE whistleblower Ryan Schwank joined Congressman Mark Pocan's podcast 'With Liberty & Justice for Some,' speaking about his decision to blow the whistle on ICE's dangerous cuts to officer training and the secret memo instructing him to teach cadets to violate the Fourth Amendment. Ryan also discussed how the internal mechanisms to report wrongdoing within the administration are broken, calling the current system "fully non-functional at this point."
