    Communities affected by the Spokane Complex Fires are facing tremendous loss, with homes destroyed, residents displaced and lives changed in a matter of days. Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are committing $500,000 in grants and in-kind support to help meet immediate needs. The commitment will support nonprofit organizations providing relief and direct household assistance, along with back-to-school essentials for families and students affected by the fires. These communities are home to our associates, too, and some are experiencing the same difficult circumstances as their neighbors. We’re grateful to the first responders, nonprofit organizations, local leaders and neighbors helping one another through this difficult time.     I recently had the chance to visit Club Manager Joseph Briggs at his club in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Joe is one of 37 siblings in the Briggs family, 32 of whom were adopted from around the world. What’s even more remarkable is that 17 of them have started their careers at Walmart and Sam's Club, growing into roles from supervisor to club manager. Five siblings have even earned high school and college credentials through our Live Better U program, with Sam’s investing more than $50,000 in their education. Now their incredible family story is being featured in PEOPLE. It’s a powerful reminder that when opportunity meets hard work and determination, lives – and entire families – can change.     Today, we’re celebrating 433 interns who brought their ideas, energy and talent to Walmart this summer. 🎉 Representing 132 universities, our interns are making an impact across Walmart U.S., Walmart Global Tech, Sam’s Club, Corporate Finance, Supply Chain and corporate functions. From Bentonville and Hoboken to Sunnyvale, Bellevue and communities across 32 states and Puerto Rico, they’re learning, growing and helping shape what’s next. And for some, this summer marks an exciting new chapter in a much longer Walmart journey. “Four years ago, I was working as a cart attendant, and today I’m a corporate intern—hopefully soon to be full-time—just a couple of months away from graduating with a Bachelor of Business.     Last week, I took my daughter to see a specialist after her pediatrician flagged a potential issue with her vision. While we were there, I realized I hadn’t had an eye exam in several years and that I was struggling to read the eye chart myself. It left me thinking about the importance of affordable, convenient access to eye exams and, of course, the workforce behind that access. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects roughly 6,800 optician openings every year through 2034, driven largely by an aging population in our country and workers retiring out of this profession. At the same time, the path to licensure can be complicated and expensive, creating a significant barrier for people interested in these careers. That’s why I’m proud that Guild is supporting Walmart’s recently launched Associate to Optician program through Live Better U. The program addresses those barriers head-on by creating a clear pathway for associates to build the skills and credentials they need to move into fulfilling careers, at no cost to them. It is a powerful example of how employers can expand access to essential care while creating meaningful economic opportunity for their workforce.     Sometimes the most meaningful letters are the ones you can’t answer with words. A few months ago, I received a letter from an associate’s son asking if I would recognize his dad, Christopher, for 30 years of service at Sam's Club. I thought the best response was to say thank you in person. It was an honor to celebrate Christopher alongside four other dedicated long term associates—Brenda, Debra, Kimberly, and Shelly—who have each dedicated more than 30 years to serving our members and their communities. What an incredible testament to the people and culture of Club 6361. I'm happy they each chose Sam's Club, our members and each other year after year. #WeAreSamsClub #ComeJoinUs

    We’re standing with communities across West Virginia following the severe flooding that has damaged homes and businesses and disrupted the lives of families across the region. Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are committing $500,000 to support immediate needs, cleanup and relief efforts. Working alongside local leaders and nonprofit organizations, our response also includes donated food, water and essential supplies; hot meals; mobile laundry and shower services; and Wi-Fi and hotspot access. We’re grateful to the associates, first responders, community organizations and neighbors who continue to show up for one another.     For those of us in Sourcing, days like this are especially meaningful. It was an honor to join Agristo in Grand Forks to celebrate the groundbreaking of its first U.S. manufacturing facility—a more than $1 billion investment that reflects years of collaboration, shared goals, and mutual trust. As Sourcing partners, our work goes far beyond negotiating contracts. It's about building relationships that give suppliers the confidence to make long-term investments, strengthen domestic manufacturing, and create greater resiliency for our customers. This facility will create approximately 300 jobs, source potatoes from more than 50 local farm families across North Dakota and Minnesota, and help build a stronger U.S. food supply chain. It's also a great example of Walmart's $350 billion commitment to products made, grown, or assembled in the U.S. working alongside suppliers to create economic opportunity, strengthen American manufacturing, and build flexibly supply chains. Congratulations to the Agristo team on this incredible milestone.
