𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Union contractors are required to pay wages negotiated in their collective bargaining agreements. On long-term projects, those wages often increase over time. Under current law, the prevailing wage rate used for the project may be based on a determination issued years earlier. AB 1198 updates the system so prevailing wage rates reflect the rates in effect when the work is performed, helping address a competitive disadvantage faced by many union contractors on public works projects. From Campfire to Cook-Off — Enoven at UCON 2026! Enoven Truck Body + Equipment had a great time at the 2026 UCON Annual BBQ & Chili Cook-Off on August 6 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Celebrating 46 summers of smoke, competition, and construction-industry camaraderie, the event brought together more than 1,200 union contractors, tradespeople, and industry partners for one of California construction’s biggest networking events. Sam, Scotty, and Paul represented Enoven at our booth, shaking hands, answering questions, catching up with old friends, and making new connections along the way. With great food, friendly competition, and an incredible crowd, there was never a dull moment. A special thank you to Christine and Teresa for being two of Enoven’s biggest supporters throughout the event. We also want to recognize the entire UCON staff for putting together another outstanding gathering and making everyone feel welcome. For Enoven, events like this are about more than having a booth—they’re about staying connected to the contractors and industry partners we serve. Great people. Great conversations. And yes… some pretty great chili. 🌶️ Thanks for having us, UCON. We’ll see you around the next campfire! #Enoven #UCON #UnionContractors #ConstructionNetworking #WorkTrucks

  • In case you missed UCON's email, more than 350 ready-mix drivers employed by CalPortland are currently on strike across 15+ plants in Northern California. It has come to our attention that the Teamsters are looking to expand their strike to Southern California. Do you have questions about how to handle strikes or sympathy strikes with respect to your workforce and continuing operations? There are many misconceptions on what contractors and employees can and can’t do during a strike. For more information about strikes, UCON contractors may log in to the Contractor Resources Library to access the Union Strike Preparation Action Response Kit or the Strike Preparation Manual. If you have questions, please reach out to the UCON Labor Team at LaborTeam@unitedcontractors.org or call 925-855-7900.
