It is kinda chic to protect forests. To do so, we’re working with governments, Indigenous Peoples and local communities in over 20 countries to develop inclusive forest solutions to the climate crisis, reducing deforestation and forest degradation while promoting sustainable development. What else do you think is kinda chic?

Land is degrading fast. Biodiversity is declining at an unprecedented rate. The climate is growing more extreme and unpredictable. Our planet is on the brink of irreversible changes that will reshape the systems that sustain life: from the way we grow food and manage water, to how communities build livelihoods and prepare for an uncertain future. The scale of these challenges demands a response of equal ambition. That is why the three major environmental conferences, or Conferences of the Parties (COPs) in 2026 are pivotal moments. They bring countries together to advance action on three interconnected priorities: restoring land, protecting biodiversity and tackling climate change. These political negotiations are essential and we must urgently move into the era of action. Here’s a closer look at how these meetings can help us rise to the moment: go.undp.org/GWz

77% of young Ukrainians are ready to participate in their country’s recovery, yet only 1% are involved in formal reconstruction projects. That staggering gap is one of the greatest untapped opportunities for Ukraine’s future. Our “Impact of the War on Youth in Ukraine – 2025” study, supported by the Government of Denmark, reveals a generation that is remarkably hopeful, resilient, and committed. Despite profound challenges like displacement and anxiety, young people aren’t waiting on the sidelines – they’re already driving change. To turn this potential into progress, we must focus on three priorities: ➡️ Youth-led initiatives: Investing in programmes designed and led by young people for their communities. ➡️Economic launchpads: Expanding entrepreneurship support, grants, and skills development. ➡️Local infrastructure: Strengthening youth centres and community spaces for local leadership. Ukraine’s recovery will be measured not just by buildings restored, but by whether a generation shaped by war is empowered to shape the peace that follows. go.undp.org/GdK

Access to AI is not the same as how it is adopted, adapted and used. Language is one of the clearest examples. Most African languages, along with many in South and Southeast Asia, the Pacific and Indigenous communities, remain underrepresented. go.undp.org/pQZ

Indigenous Peoples are the guardians of the Earth. But mining, deforestation, disease and over tourism are destroying the lands and lives they’ve protected for generations. Their rights, cultures, languages and lands must be respected and protected. #WeAreIndigenous
