Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down from her role at the White House at the end of the month to spend more time with her family, President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday—”a decision,” he said in a Truth Social post, “I totally understand and respect!” During her time behind the White House podium, Leavitt has gained a reputation for her sharp retorts to reporters, an echo of Trump’s contentious relationship with the press. Here are some of her most notable exchanges with reporters. Read about who might replace her as Press Secretary: https://lnkd.in/gGS69Xzu

On Wednesday, the luckiest 15 million people in the world were those living along the path of totality for the recent solar eclipse: a narrow band stretching from northern Russia through Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Portugal, before reaching the Mediterranean Sea. It was the first total solar eclipse visible from Europe in 27 years. Here is just a sampling of the work the eclipse-watchers produced. The Trump Administration has revoked visas from people who “celebrated” Charlie Kirk’s death online. It's part of a larger effort of more than 175,000 visa revocations since President Donald Trump returned to office. The State Department says the majority were revoked over criminal activity, but its sweeping crackdown has also included people targeted over online comments, “birth tourism,” and ties to countries including Cuba and Iran. Here’s who has been caught up in the Administration’s visa crackdown in 60 seconds.

“All he thinks about is giving love, giving cuddles!” Aryna Sabalenka was upset when Wimbledon didn’t let her bring her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ash, with her to the court. She shares how much he means to her with TIME. Read the full profile of the most compelling tennis player right now: https://lnkd.in/gksjrcXe

Brash, goofy, unafraid to lose her temper at her coach and support staff in front of a global audience—these qualities makes Aryna Sabalenka the most compelling player in tennis. “I want to be remembered as a fighter on court, but so cool and fun off court,” she says. “I think it’s really important for kids to understand that you have to balance. You don’t have to be fully, fully focused on your dreams. One day they can destroy you.” With the U.S. Open main draw beginning on Aug. 30, Sabalenka—who has also had to cope with personal losses and a contentious geopolitical climate on her journey to the top—remains in prime position to fulfill her wildest aspirations. She’s already one of just 10 women’s players in history to hold the world’s top ranking for at least 100 weeks, joining the likes of Serena Williams, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, and Chris Evert. “To see my name somewhere in there, it’s pretty sick,” she says. If she wins a third straight title in New York City, she’d become the first player since Williams a dozen years ago to three-peat there, and just the third woman in the modern era to do it, with Evert being the other. TIME’s senior sports correspondent Sean Gregory spoke with Sabalenka about her tennis trajectory, social media savvy, and on-court emotions. If there’s one thing most Americans across the country agree on, it’s that they hate data centers. A June Reuters poll found that just a third of Americans approve of the pace of data-center construction, and only 14% are comfortable with a data center being built nearby. On July 18, a national day of protest against data centers saw 142 protests across 42 states. TIME reporter Simmone Shah walks us through the impact of data centers in local communities, how residents are pushing back, and the scale of pushback across the country.
