Hello HMF community! ☀️ With incoming heatwaves and record temperatures expected in many areas, it’s important now more than ever to know what the signs of a heat stroke are and what to do if someone is in need of help. Heat stroke is a a serious medical emergency, and acting quickly can save a life. Take a minute to review the steps provided by the American CPR association. Stay cool! Stay hydrated! Remember that there are many individuals who do not have resources to manage in this heatwave, and check in on those around you. Don’t hesitate to call emergency services if you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke. Happy Pride Month from the Heart & Mind Foundation! 🏳️🌈 This Pride Month, we want to celebrate the strength and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community while also recognizing the struggles and challanges that many individuals in the community continue to face. Did you know? - LGBTQIA+ youth make up roughly 10% of the youth population but nearly 40% of youth experiencing homelessness. - LGBTQ+ youth and young adults are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. At Heart & Mind Foundation, we strive to work towards healing and creating community among places such as shelters, to make sure everyone has a community where they feel supported and where their healing has been facilitated. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, consider getting involved with your local shelters, and working with us to host events that uplift these wonderful individuals. Today we’re looking back at an inspiring event that one of our chapters hosted earlier this month! In honor of Memorial Day, our NorCal chapter cohosted “Art in the Park” with the United Students for Veterans Health at the Menlo Park Veterans Hospital! This event was a wonderful way of connecting with veterans and other volunteers through music and art. We are so proud of our members for representing HMF and sharing our cause as we celebrate and recognize our veterans. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. As summer officially begins, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate all the amazing memories, connections, and accomplishments the Heart and Mind Foundation made during this spring!🌸 We decided to put together a collage highlighting major events from our various HMF chapters across the country! Did you catch us at the Mojo Music Festival? A few weeks ago our Boston HMF chapter hosted a wonderful booth at the Mojo music festival, where attendees had the opportunity to learn more about our organization while also participating in fun crafts! They were able to enjoy bracelet-making, and the chance to win a $100 gift card through a HMF raffle, all while conversing with our team about HMF and our mission! 🎟️ A huge thank you to everyone that visited, and all the HMF members who helped run the booth! We had so much fun meeting members of the community with similar interests and celebrating music and connection. We hope to see those we met at the booth in the future!
